Excellent find!! thank you

I'm looking to move off SG with QF and pleased that there is an option beyond united for a match.

I have applied with a screenshot of my phone apps QF Membership . received the Gold Status within 24 hours .

Gosh the nasty breakup with virgin continues :) Handy for all though!

I know someone who has VA Platinum and asked for the status match... they got NZ Gold status in less than an hour.

Does anyone know how long they will run this promotion? My TK match ends in January so would like to apply then to maximise my 6 months of *Gold status?

I realise this is a somewhat pedantic question, but:

when you got the new status, was the review date exactly six months from that date (i.e. 10th March) or the end of the the sixth month (i.e. end of March)?

I know I could look this up myself but does anyone know how much flying you would need to do to get 450 Status points on Air NZ or partner

From AusBT:

As soon as your Touch of Gold application is approved your Airpoints account will sprout an instant 450 status points, putting you halfway towards the 900 status points usually needed to earn or retain Gold.

You'll have the fill six months of your temporary Touch of Gold status to earn those status points.

If the bulk of your potential Air New Zealand travel is across the pond, you'll be looking at anywhere from 7-107 status points on a Sydney-Auckland, Melbourne-Auckland or Brisbane-Auckland flight depending on your class of travel and fare type.

Assuming you typically opt for a flexible economy Seat+Bag fare, that'll land you between 35 and 83 status points – so that's six return trips at the cheapest fare or four return trips at the highest fare category.

If you fly with Air New Zealand from Australia to any of its US mainland destinations (Los Angeles, San Francisco or Houston) in business class you'll be good for Gold with one return trip
.

Thanks @RooFlyer probably not going to happen because I'm hoping to keep QF WP this year and I'm very very very close to LTG

I do remember looking up some of the sale fare stuff and seeing SP earn 698 for return J to the US for ~ 4.4k, also APD earn was around 600??

A better deal than kiwi's get flying out of NZ. Although I think we get some better deals on pricing departing NZ than what Aussies get departing Oz. We should basically just depart from each others countries!

I really think NZ need to get into the credit card side of things here to be successful. If you max out on the cc it essentially reduces the threshold to reach status which is lower after the initial year of status. eg gold 1st yr is 900 but 2nd yr 810 so only need 405 SP of flying to maintain gold which you could probably do with ~2 return business class trips across the Tasman depending on price. SP earn can be through other carriers although I think they may have some similar habits to Qantas in terms of reducing partner earn. Rest is from cc.

Anyone with access to an Air NZ SP / APD earning cc should keep it if NZ suits their flying I'm guessing mainly to the Americas.
