Woolworths gift card thread

Firstly, <insert expletive ridden rant here>. WOW Macarthur (Brisbane) are just so awful.

WOW Spring Hill is so wonderful. 4 cards in stock, super apologetic they didn't have any others. Sent me to Macarthur who apparently have 16 in stock. GREAT.
Walk across town in lunch hour sweating my rear off, to be told rudely they don't have any in stock, they wont be getting any in and the staff at Spring Hill don't have any clue. I'm never shopping there again. The expletive ridden rant will be going on their Facebook page.

So update for Brissie based members. None at Spring Hill. None at Macarthur. Sorry.

If anyone knows any city-ish based stores with stock please let me know. I live here. I don't live in whoop whoop. I need them before I fly out early Saturday.

After reading these comments I went and bought a few cards:

1 single card - activated as normal ~10-15 seconds
2 cards together - activation took about 2 minutes o_O
Some of mine activated whilst others failed. Spent 5 mins at service desk sorting out the problem.

I tried ten cards and after about 25 mins, the self-serve register crashed. The supervisor took me to the service desk where I know they have already installed the patch.....

When she scanned the barcode on the receipt (to give me a refund), it printed out 8 activation slips and said 2 didn't activate. The supervisor tried a few things before deciding to refund the remaining two in cash and then we scanned and activated them:)

I then went to my other local store for a test run: no fee, no patch, heaps of $100 cards on the pegs, 3 ppd on the edge......living the dream;):D

Is “Patched” mean we cant pay for Visa1 with egift card discount 5% or cant buy at all even with amex card directly . Havent bought any cards for a while

Problems still exist this afternoon. If anything things have gotten worse since my experience this morning.

Tried to buy 4 at self serve. None activated. Long delays at the register but failed each time. Fixed up (hopefully) at service desk.

I'd like to buy a lot more, but the frustration aspect is quite excruciating.

Also, very limited stock.

Damn it.
I'm. Standing in front of the machine. Doing 4 cards and been waiting at least 5 mins.

As a test i purchased 4x eBay gcs and they took the usual 20 seconds odd

Here are my results.
4 cards activation was 7 to 8 mins
2 cards was 3 to 4 mins
1 card was 10 seconds

Tried with and without scanning woolworths card.

No points posted as expected

However i cannot be doing them one at a time even though the staff were happy too

does it also take that long in the other store?
I went to two of my locals and none of them had these only1 visa cards

someone explain to me why this deal seems so popular,
egfit cards dont work for most , and its only a $5.95 saving

back when they were offering 2000 ww poitns, or a $10 jb hifi voucher,
the benefit was far higher and not every shop was sold out

what am I missing?

Well the biggest issue is that you are no longer able to (or soon) buy these cards with e-giftcards so this would be the last hurrah!

ok fair enough, would have thought hard core point collectors would be all over this as usual , but the less seasoned ones would be like "meh , not worth my time,"

I've got $2350 worth of water and electricity bills due soon. Their online payment system will accept multiple partial payments, as long as each payment is at least $5. They only accept Visa and MasterCard though, so the attraction for me is the potential to earn three times as many Amex Ascent points (Platinum Edge) as I would otherwise earn Qantas points (ANZ FF Black)...... if I can find any cards. I went to WW at Dickson (ACT) at lunch time, and they didn't have any. I'm going to try Erindale and/or Tuggeranong tonight.

I must admit at this point (pun not attended), I really don't care all that much for this any more. The time & inconvenience costs now outweigh the 5-digit haul that would otherwise come in. Opportunity cost.

For me, it'll be straight-up buying GCs with the Edge going forward!

Even at almost 2c per point for the visas?

WW Erindale has some. "Happy Birthday" ones only, but they scan at the catalogue price. Typing this as I wait for them to activate..... 10 minutes so far. (I bought 10..... for now.)
