Hi All,

Wifey is travelling on SQ later this month, she is SG thanks to my frequent flying and velocity's companion gold offer.

Unfortunately due to some reasons, she does not have her gold card with her.. Is the VA status now appearing on SQ BP's ? All we need is the lounge access and extra luggage..She can access the gold card on Virgin Australia app if needed, but not sure if lounge angels will recognise..

Have requested for new card and also global wallet card, lets see if they make it in time but highly unlikely.

Thanks all.

Chao!!!

Yes, VA status shows on Sq boarding passes..

The lounge dragons wont ask to see a card.. just scan the bp and off she'll go.
:)

thank you. It was just that last time I flew SQ, the VA status did not come thru so physical card was required...

thanks again.

It should say Partner Gold or Partner Priority on her boarding pass - as long as her Velocity number is attached to the booking, that's all they need

my last SQ BP didnt show my VA Status, Just used the digit version on the VA app

My SQ (SQ ticketed) boarding pass last week showed my Velocity status.

As a fall back to not having the physical card, you can call up a digital version of the card using the VA app on your smartphone. If you are using the Global Wallet facility you should take up the option of getting an additional card which although doesn't have your VFF membership details, does allow you to access your funds and in fact has a longer expiry date.

This was the situation I found myself in last month when my VFF card expired and was able to use the additional card.

I had a similar problem two years ago, lost card and no time for a replacement to be sent. I printed out a copy of my status from velocity. I had no issues ex Australia and the first transit in Singapore. However returning my status was not printed on my boarding pass I had to show and explain my printed copy to the lounge staff. They weren't that enthusiastic but still let me through anyway. I think with a digital version your wife should be fine, but maybe print out a copy just to be safe.

I know SIA status aren't showing on VAU BPs. VAU lounge queens required evidence (ie. card) to be presented.

Thanks everyone. Her FF number is on the booking so am hoping the status pulls thru. Just in case, I have had the app loaded on her phone for access to card..

I had success using my baggage tag instead of the card with Delta in the same situation. She can try that if boarding pass alone would not work.

I witnessed someone trying this at the SQ PER check in desks and they were laughed out of the building by the check in staff.

My last flight on SQ was a couple of weeks ago and I did not need my VFF card at any stage. I was even on the PER SilverKris lounge list...

Full marks for effort there :) I don't think I could bring myself to try that.

As a side note I just remembered I did have trouble with status on the boarding pass once, on a SYD-SIN leg - SQ systems were playing up and had dropped partner statuses from whatever database they were using at the lounge, despite Partner Priority being printed on our boarding passes, so they asked my colleague and I to show our Velocity cards to record the FF number/confirm the status. But that's one leg out of around 10 that I've done on SQ with either Gold or Platinum so odds are she should be fine.

thanks guys.
I have had a hit and a miss with partner status showing up, last I flew it was missing so was a little worried. Fingers crossed, it would be fine.

Yeah I probably wouldn't try this in Australia -- but overseas people don't see VA cards too often and baggage tag has both name and number, so worth the risk =)

All SQ needs is the number and they can check status. So a bag tag actually would work. Or just your number on a piece of paper (as long as the name matched your BP).

I believe issues only arise when the SQ and VFF systems are not communicating to each other (as happened in May this year). Therefore, having only your VFF number is not enough as SQ cannot independently confirm your status via their system.

In these cases, SQ have to go 'old school' by using your VFF card as the sole means of verification of your status.

Update

Thanks everyone, the status pulled thru but the agent at Syd still wanted to see the card, the app worked and one happy wifey :p she had excess baggage, well within the SG limit and the food in lounge was good...
