Thoughts on the Samsonite Lite-Locked?

Hi All,

I'm looking at some new luggage (To be checked, not carryon) for a trip coming up later in the year to the US and have had my eyes on the Samsonite Lite-Locked 69cm Spinner. This looks like a perfect size for me, having enough space without being too big and unwieldy. I also quite like the 3 clips rather than zippers.

Has anyone had any experience with this bag? How has it faired as a checked bag, especially on international flights? I have heard a lot of good things about Samsonite, but there also seems to be a bit of negativity surrounding them as well.

Open to any other suggestions that may suit better!

There is a luggage thread on here. http://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/travel-insider-tips/luggage-27515-14.html

But my 2 cents worth is I don't like cases that split in half. The top half gets heavy, and you have to put them up on the bed to access the top half. So if the case is on a luggage stand you have to move it over to the bed to access anything in the lid. I have had experience with these types of cases, and we had a Samsonite one with the zippers that the hinge broke. SO I would never buy that type again. I also have an Antler cabin bag that is the split half type, and I hardly use it anymore.

Also good discount prices here and free delivery

Sorry, didn't see the luggage thread - Will head over there!

Thanks for that heads up too, I wouldn't have thought of that aspect of it.

I have an old set of 3 hardshell Antler spinner cases that can be stored one inside the other (great for leaving Oz with one case and returning with all 3 full of shopping etc). I have not found any Samsonite hard shell spinners that can be "nested" the same as my Antler's due to the very large wheels.
