While I do like the SilverKris Lounge in SIN, the Gold one is perfectly adequate. There are comfortable seats, you're out of the throngs of people in the terminal, food and drink are available (admittedly the food is not awesome but it does) and you can charge your phone etc

Toilets are in close proximity - probably just as a close as walking one end of a lounge to the other.

Showers - if I really want one then I go to the Transit Lounge and pay for one and take a lot longer than I would with a lounge shower.

I don't see the fault being with VA but rather SQ - they would be the one saying no to allowing access I'd guess (when you compare it to having access to First Lounge with EY in AUH).

For what it's worth the food was identical in T2 and T3 KrisFlyer Gold lounges on Saturday 25 March.

Having spent 2 rather long layovers (delayed connections) in the KF Gold lounge. It's not great, true, but it certainly beats waiting at the gate!! Seeing as you would be stuck there even if you were top tier star alliance or even KF but flying economy I reckon it's a case of we just have to put up with it. If SQ's own status pax are limited to that lounge when travelling economy what hope does any other airline have??

Also I agree, it's miles better than the Silverkris KUL...spent 3hrs there in transit last week, never again, we're switching our work Kuching - Singapore flights either direct with Silk Air, or swapping to the Silk Air KUL-SIN hourly departures.

I really like the SilverKris PER and have spent many happy hours there. Food is always really good and is replenished quickly. Its pretty small, sure, but no smaller than the MH lounge next door (have you tried it?) and the food and amenity is far and away better. Loadings are never more than 60-70% and thats on an extremely busy day. Oh ... and they have a toilet inside for those who like that :)

Just pointing out the MH lounge next door closed years ago. But I agree - the food in the SQ lounge is streets ahead of the QF lounge down the terminal.

agreed with all the comments here - the affiliation with VA shouldn't be any better than what SQ own elites and *A gets. that being said, what was discussed here about *A having only 2 tiers and not 3 might be the root of the discrepancy..

MH lounge is closed? Good lord, I've really got to start walking around with my eyes open hehe. Years ago? I've been to the SQ lounge 4 times this year alone and never noticed that ... who is there now? Is it empty but the old signage is still up? That would help explain my lack of attention at least :)

As a reference to the KrisFlyer Gold lounges in SIN the PER SilverKris is inferior?

Yes the food is nice in PER but the food is also nice in SIN. And you may have to wait 5-10 minutes for the single cubicle in PER or you can walk ~50 metres in SIN for a choice of cubicles. So what if the toilet is outside.

And in my opinion the atmosphere is better in the SIN lounges but I guess that's me.

Oh yes, ok, sure. The gold in SIN is bigger and by a significant margin and, subjectively I guess, the food is better ... a mix of cultures in SIN gives a real taste bonanza most of the times I've been there.

Heh, yes I won't argue. Its probably location more than anything. A real mix in the gold and people watching is always interesting - though tbh I am usually so knackered that I just try to catnap most of the time I'm in there.

SQ has settled on a rather confusing naming system though I must say - had me really scratching my chin first time I used their lounges. SilverKris is the premium lounge in SIN, but everywhere else in the world its the (only) default lounge. The SIN SK is really nice, one of the better lounges I've been in, the GK is about what you normally expect to bump into with most airlines mid or low tier lounges. Adequate but not memorable. Given that almost all the SK lounges worldwide are relatively basic, or at least 'default' style, not bad, but not outstanding, wouldn't it make more sense to name them all as GK? Or alternatively back in the day, the now SK should have been called the GK and let the default lounge become a SK and thereby the same as all its mates worldwide?

Even explaining that was confusing :)

Agreed on the naming convention. Also confusing that silver is better than gold in the naming hierarchy...

Personally I think the Perth lounge is fine considering what it handles - 4 flights a day at separate times. I've only once seen it crammed, generally there's been spare seats in each of the three areas. A couple of times I've seen the lounge staff walk around offering champagne or desserts and the light snacks on offer are usually OK.

The single toilet stall is a weakness - particularly ahead of the 6am flight when it seems everyone has to take care of business at the same time... And a view would be nice, but generally its a nice place to relax for an hour before a flight. You wouldn't arrive early to enjoy it, but its a regional airport lounge not serving first class so to be expected.

I still wouldn't complain if they decided to bump Platinums up to SilverKris :) I'm going to be doing a few transits through Changi this year haha

Welcome to AFF!

Generally the lounges don't give as much of a 'premium' service when it is only open for VA flights that are departing.
Thanks!

So no alacarte dining or bar service? busy too I assume? In any case, surely a step up from Krisflyer

I'm currently in the KrisFlyer Gold lounge in SIN and I would have to agree that it's pretty underwhelming. I'm glad that I read this thread before visiting as it allowed me to set my expectations appropriately low.

The lounge is small and crowded, and as others have said there are no toilets or showers. There are a few hot food options but not many - not even rice is available. Alcohol is available but the selection is somewhat limited. At least they do have cold Tiger beer on tap.
