SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

We landed at Terminal 2 tonight in Changi instead of our usual Terminal 3. 4,000 steps and a transit train and we made it to the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Does anyone know when SIA release updates. There is usually extra flights put on around Christmas for Adelaide but these do not appear on the timetable yet for this year? Thanks

Yes Prozac but I wasn't thinking that as I walked with 2 bags along the concourse. Mrscove typically walks about double this distance every morning so she didn't work up a sweat. I do have DVT and Anginine medication and have never needed them so that is good news. I was dripping when I made it to the check in desk at the Crowne Plaza as I don't do humidity too well.
Anyway we have a lovely room for our eleventh stay at this hotel.

Trying to stay young CE but last night was a test that would have pleased my new split stick cardiologist. Sure carts are there but that would be like parking in a handicapped parking spot....we only used a cart when Mrscove damaged her knee in London and when I need a walking stick I will consider it.

We need to consider these things when traveling cove. I am always happy to stretch my legs a bit in transit as I tell myself it is good for my health. ;) Place I don't like this is FRA when changing domestic-international. It's a bloody rabbit warren with stairs etc. They make you line up like back in the war...I don't apologise for the imagery so please don't complain.

I hear you brother cove - funny thing every time I hear that announcement "We would like to advise all passengers that today's flight will be landing in Terminal 2" I get like a small feeling of disappointment - like weird huh - it's only a 5 min walk / Skytrain to T3.

One trip I had MEL-SIN-MNL we were late leaving MEL which resulted in a potentially impossible connection dep on arr Terminal in SIN - MNL flt dep T2 and as luck had it the MEL flt arr T2 at the very next gate to dep MNL flt - I walked off MEL flt and straight through security next gate and last pax on board - luggage not so lucky and took 24hrs to get to me.

I have only ever had 1 flt arr into T1 and indeed we were advised we were landing in T3 - C1 was gate in question and as we left aerobridge there was a posse of 50 odd SQ staff forming a human wall to usher us straight through into T3 from C1 position in T1 - it really was quite weird.

How come in Singapore Changi terminals folks walk in diagonals....what is wrong with straight lines....Is it a bad case of tunnel vision?

Simple cove - many suffer from the same affliction as your good self - Champatitus!

Speaking of Champatitus - shouldn't you be onboard preparing for your transfusion?

spacebar

And then add a smart phone into the mix and they could end up anywhere!

I came through SIN last week and literally had someone walk directly into me while she was on WeChat - No sorry, no nothing.. just continue to look at her phone.

Hi,

Stopover question:

I've read online that stopovers aren't permitted with purely domestic itineraries in North America but when I spoke to the agent today she suggested they were. Given that she was pretty hopeless with all of my questions I thought I might ask you smart folks. I'd be looking at the free and/or paid stopovers. The simple version of the itinerary would be something along the lines of YYC-YWG (stop)-YOW (destination)-YYC. If that works, would the following oneway multi-city work?

YYC-YWG(paid $100 stop)-YOW(destination)
YOW-ORD-SJC(paid $100 stop)-YVR-YYC

Basically at the end of the day I'm wondering if I can use stopovers to get myself to YWG, YOW and SJC to visit family...

Thanks all!

Hi all,

Hoping the SQ experts can help me out here.

I am booked for my first SQ flight to Europe for work in May.

Flying in Premium Economy but have enough points to upgrade a couple of legs to Business which I'd love to do as I have never flown SQ business and heard mixed reports on Premium Economy.

My dilemma however is that I need to have these flights credited to VA to maintain gold.

Can I upgrade with my SQ FF number and after the upgrade is confirmed change my FF number back to VA. Haven't been able to find a definitive answer and don't want to take a punt on it, because if it fails I drop back to silver in VA.

Thanks all.

I find this usually works:

You: Hello Mr/Ms Agent - if I give you a Booking Reference number could you please pull that up for me?
Agent: Certainly just hold the line while I pull that up for you - OK I see your booking - what can I do for you?
You: Could you please send off a chaser to see if we can get this WL cleared please?
Agent: No problem - that would be my pleasure - OK chaser sent off - is there anything else I can do for you?
You: No that is all for now thanks.

Nice and straight forward?

Since booking 2 x Suites earlier in the year, i have tried this method for our SIN > MEL SQ 217 early October without any response from SIA. The flight has 1 reward seat available but obviously need 2. any other tips to see if they can push through the WL for the extra seat?
Each time i call they say no problem a request has been made but no follow up.

I varied my routine flying SIN-NRT-LAX in First this time. I did the Krug, the caviar but out of Narita I went lights out after several glasses of a French red and slept for hours.

From what I understand, waitlists don't usually clear until a few weeks before the flight, sometimes only a few days. So it may just be too early at this stage.

Just a question:

I'm going to book an award flight. The points are in the missus account and I am a redemption nominee.

Can I call on behalf of the missus to do the booking? or does she need to call and give me authority?

In the last week or so, Sq no longer allows you to select 3C,D online on the A380 if you are travelling as a couple whether award or cash booking. FYI :( (2C, D is always blocked as it is the bassinet position)

kpc 2C/D are bassinet seats which are always blocked for online selection - 3C/D are the other centre pairs of Suites. Where did you get this information re not bookable from?

Edit: Not true - I just did dummy booking and after inputting 2nd pax name you can then select seats - 3C/D readily 'chooseable'
