re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

I have this, but they havent sent the itinerary. Do they usually send the itinerary after redeeming or it could take couple hours?

I can't remember getting anything except the confirmation. I cross check with either the airline's website, Lifemiles, or another tool such as checkmytrip to ensure there are ticket numbers against the booking.

I dont always get the ticket from them. For ANA, you can use checkmytrip, if E-ticket number is there (normally under your name after clicking down arrow), everything is good. The flight might show 'confirmed' but without E-ticket number, it means it hasnt been ticketed yet.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Thanks both of you for really fast responses, after clicking the arrow, i've found my ticket numbers.

Can I be able to choose the seat by calling them, or it can only be selected during check-in?

You should be able to access your booking directly on the ANA website - under manage my booking. You can select seats from there.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

I am trying to find SYD-xNRT/HND-KUL in early April.. but can't find any seats..
Can i assume no more seats available ?? Or more will be released soon ?? As i wanted to try ANA :)

Seems seeing a lot of successful booking on SYD-xHND/NRT-KUL :)

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Gday

To the bloke in the other thread who couldnt find seats for Syd- HND/NRT- KUL on NH. I dont think the website will ever show this as the connection times are about 12 hours. Lifemiles will usually only show up to 8 hours. And in terms of releasing extra inventory- i dont think this happens. Maybe for LH within 14 days of travel but not alot else. Your best bet for going Syd to KUL is to search SYD to SIN and be sure to select the ANA in the preferred carrier drop down at the top. There is one connection that has a less than 8 hour transit time. If you can find that then book it and then the SIN to KUL leg will just have to be a revenue ticket with any number of full service or LCC's. Hope that helps.

Pele.

Usually you get a nice html formatted email straight after booking with your 6 digit PNR

Within 24-48 hours you'll get another email with just text that has ELECTRONIC TICKET PASSENGER ITINERARY RECEIPT near the top

A few lines down you'll see

ISSUING AIRLINE : AVIANCA
TICKET NUMBER : ETKT xx_xx_xx_xx_

Once you have an ETKT you're good to go.

You could also punch in your PNR at https://www.checkmytrip.com and it should let you see if there's an e ticket associated with the PNR - click on the drop down menu next to your name once the booking info comes up

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

@MEL_Traveller All good, I've selected a window seat! Thanks so much ^_^

@Jeffrey Thanks so much, I was able to find my e ticket number, so the ticket is valid now i guess.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

I didn't have an eTicket for my award flight on ANA even though I could see that I they had been issued. Just incase there was an problem I emailed [email protected] with all the booking details (Booking#, eTicket numbers, my LM number, names, flight etc) and requested an eTicket to be sent. I received them the next day. Feel happier now :)

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Gday

Does anyone know with Lifemiles- if you cancel a booking do the sets drop back into the Lifemiles inventory for someone else to snap up? Or do they disappear into no-where?

Thanks.

Pele.

Gday

To answer my own question based on cancelling a couple of tickets last night- they do not drop back into the inventory.

It may take up to 72 hours.

I have had occasions when I have not been able to complete a booking due to CC problems, and have had to wait to try again.

It may still turn up.

I have cancelled 2 seats due to an appointment change and then 5 days later rebooked the same seats same flight as original booking.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Am I the only one that finds the LM search function frustrating in that you can only search in 5 day blocks?
Very time consuming.

if you can, it's easier to use something like UA's tool to get a calendar view and find flights, then go back to LM with a specific date in mind.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Looking at a flight to US next year and think Lifemiles might fit the bill. Having had a bit of a read of the quite lengthy thread - i just wanted to clarify/confirm some things and ask a couple of questions.

* With the screenshot method - has anyone had success with 3 screenshots? ie a->b + b->c->d + d->e for an a->e booking?
* Does the 8 hour limit steadfastly apply to screenshot bookings?
* In the event that I have a mixed class booking AND a leg opens up in a class I have paid for - how difficult is it to amend? ie A-B in J, B-C in Y and C-D in J. If i find a B-C leg in J later - can you switch? Or indeed if I find a different route altogether but the same start/end point - can it be changed cost effectively?
* Is there a max limit on number of legs? I want to get to Tennessee and it looks like a minimum 4 legs flight - is this an issue?

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Have a question regarding how many miles to buy for an award J trip
Itinerary SYD- Tokyo (HND) on ANA J Return

40000 miles each way for this so total of 80000. If I was to buy these outright currently with the 2 for 1 sale. it would cost USD1320 for the miles. Then add on approx USD136 for taxes (I've gone through and done a hypothetical). = Total of USD1456

However if I used the flexible payment option of using 40000 miles + USD600 + taxes = USD1396 (20000 miles purchase for USD660 + USD600 + USD136).
So it comes out cheaper by USD60.

Wondering if this would be a smart way to do it OR if doing the 40% mile method? I'm still confused about this method however.. is it just similar to above w/ regards to flexible payment?

Thanks...

Does your first calculation take in to account the updated (2 x 1 + 25%) promo where the base cost for 39000 miles is US$1287?

Yep! eg. need 80000 miles, so only purchase 40000 @ USD33/1000 = USD1320.

+35% promo only comes in when you purchase over 51000 or over 101000.... and is only 25% now i believe.

In your case, yes point+pay is cheaper. Minimum miles should be 34,000 so buy 17000 mile and get 34000 miles for $561 then get 46000 miles using point+pay for $690

Save $9 compared to buying 40,000 miles :p
