I've been keeping my eye on a promo J class fare BNE-JFK return for $6705 which was available until last night. This morning the fare has increased to over $8k. My issue is there was no "book by/ticket by date" mentioned anywhere on Qantas' website, either on the special fares summary page (Plan > Flight Offers > International) or in the Fare Rules. From memory it was a USA Sale or USA Deal promo. Travel dates were Aug 15 - Jan 16.

The same issue applies to several of the Flight Specials currently advertised on their website at the moment, (HKG promo fare - no tkt date, Europe promo fare - tkt by date supplied). I get that fares can be withdrawn without notice but this is NO excuse to leave out importing ticketing deadline dates in addition to applicable travel dates.

IMO if a fare has a ticketing deadline then bloody include it on the website or in the fare rules.

FYI - I held off making my booking because I'm waiting to hear back re meetings in NYC which I'm expecting to in the next day or two.

Totally frustrated.

Perhaps that 'special' fare class sold out rather than the 'special' coming to an end ?

Possibly OzEire although at 10pm last night it said 5 or less seats available on the flights and dates I selected. I also had alternatives dates as a back up plan a month later which were showing plenty of availability.

Hmmm. That sounds more like the deal ended then. Do you know a travel agent who might be able to find the fate rules ?

No I tend to book my own travel online instead of through a TA. I printed the fare rules (Business Sale Conditions) from qantas.com.au and there is no mention of travel or ticketing dates.

Whilst I haven't ever seen any empirical proof suggesting the following is correct, some members have suggested that either deleting your cookies or browsing anonymously might refresh fares to the lower price - I'd be interested to hear feedback on whether this is accurate.

I sometimes use a different browser and search again.
