I am a gold member and will hit platinum after one more domestic but I will have 1300 status credits at the point of hitting platinum in total.

I am also going to gain another 1000 points on top of this very soon as well after hitting platinum so will maintain platinum after 8 domestic flights easily.

Because the additional 300 status credits over the 1000 required to gain platinum were earned prior to hitting platinum they don't count towards renewal so I am wondering whether I should transfer them to some one else to get them to gold quicker?

But I was also wondering if I transfer them to some one else prior to hitting platinum and then they transfer back to me after hitting platinum does that then count towards the renewal balance as they transferred them to me after I have earned platinum?

Are you referring to status credits or velocity points ? These are 2 different things.

Can you please clarify ?

If you've already earned the SCs, you can't pool them elsewhere. You may be able to look at giving companion gold however.

Thanks this is what I wanted to do, looking at the terms of gifting a gold you need -

a) 800 Status credits to achieve renewal of Platinum status
b) 500 Status credits on top of the renewal amount of Platinum to gift a gold membership

Total Status Credits Required = 1300

So I wanted to use the 300 status credits above the 1000 status credits I already have but it seems like I won't be able to and they will just be wasted.

Only thing I can really do is transfer them to some else....

Nor can any pooled to another, be pooled back.

Interesting so anything pooled to one person can not be pooled back.

Presume you have the SCs but need the domestic to get the 8th eligible sector. I'm not aware of any way to avoid the 300 SCs being ' wasted' -if it's any consolation you are not the first to experience this. To avoid you need to plan to family pool as soon as you hit the 1000SCs.

Also, if you are just about to get another 1000 SC as mentioned in your original post, I would call and see if they can offer a solution.

Surely if a flyer has 1300 SC and about to add another 1000 they would try and assist with a favourable outcome...I am not suggesting they would move the 300 to someone else but they may be able to look at the 300 counting toward requalifying ? Cant hurt asking...

I'm not entirely convinced you will receive what you expect, unless I'm misreading your post (which is entirely possible).

The reason I say this, is because you state you will hit plat after one more domestic flight (sector?). If you mean a single sector and I'm not mistaken, the maximum domestic sector can only net 80 SCs, yet you say you're not yet plat. As status credit balances usually jump in increments of 10, let's assume you're 990 SCs at the moment, with one more flight to do.....that's a max. of 1070 SCs unless you mean your "one more" is a multi-sector status run (as I can't imagine there's too many genuine domestic multi-sectors that'd reap 310 SCs). Even then, It'd be a bloody expensive and exhaustive status run.......or have I missed a point entirely (I have been awake since 2.30am)?

Lesson learned, I initially thought that sectors would be pooled but I was wrong on that to hence this issue.

Fair point I'll give them a call and have a chat worst they can do is say to bad.

I have 7 sectors flown on virgin Of the required 8.

Most of the status credits are from international flights on sq flights so you get status credits but not eligible sectors.
