VA Gold baggage on Air New Zealand seat only ticket

Hi all

Looking at booking an Air New Zealand ticket to Honolulu to take advantage of the USA300 promotion, quick question if I book at seat only ticket for me and my wife, do we both baggage as a VA Gold? If not, do I at least get baggage?

No baggage is included on any seat-only fares, even if you have status. It is the same for star alliance gold.

As far as I'm aware, you can't get 'seat only' for long-haul flights, which the Honolulu one would be. You will automatically get one checked bag.

HNL is included as part of the Tasman and PI fare structure which has the Seat only option.

It's correct that you won't get luggage when booking Seat only, regardless of status, so will need to purchase Seat+Bag.
