Advice on champagne

OK, so there are dozens of 'em. Thanks all - they don't let me out much.

I recall the bottle we were given was squat and bulbous, but those 200ml jobs will certainly do the job.

Known as a 'hand grenade'.

I'm always on the lookout for varieties of 200ml and 375ml bubbles, since my hubby doesn't like champers and I don't like to drink a whole 750ml to myself if we don't have other visitors! Winestar also have a few.

Usually a 750mL bottle is ok overnight- stoppered and in the fridge... I find the price of the half bottles prohibitive... however in restaurants if I am with non champagne people they are perfect

Uppy that is why the Lanson Black Label 375ml at $23.75 is so good - take a further 13% off that with CR/WISH and you are talking $20.70 or so - and it's far from the worst drop I have tasted too!

I don't love the Lanson... I'll drink it if it's the only thing cold, but I'm currently preferring the Laurent Perrier piccolo at $17.99 from winestar as my solo tipple.

Yes LP clearly superior - but that's only 2 glasses for 1 or 1 glass each for 2 - who on this planet could stop at 1 glass Champers?

Oh they are! Unfortunately that only works in my case if I open one on a Friday and finish it on the Saturday - I don't tend to drink on work nights, as I have too much other stuff happening on weeknights to enjoy it properly. I've tried various stopper mechanisms to try and get a half-finished bottle to last longer than a day, but they don't seem to do much. So I love it when I can find a new quarter or half bottle to try!

LOL! So true... but if there's someone else drinking I'll throw caution to the winds and open a full bottle - and two glasses pour moi is good the rest of the time

A number of years ago I was on a tour and at the start we all got given a mini bottle of Champagne (pretty sure it wasn't Sparking). About 1 or 2 glasses worth, & properly corked and caged.

Does anyone know if anything similar is available today?

What a great way to start a tour.

I wonder if Buzz is doing that for the Titanic Tour.

Will probably be needed to perk up the palate after a curry on Currie.

The trick is a good stopper. I picked up an excellent specimen from Taittinger in Reims. Gets a decent 2-3 days if you really want to leave it that long

If you're in the unfortunate situation of not being able to finish your champagne and it going flat, apart from taking yourself outside for a stern talking to, my GF turns it into strawberry or raspberry champagne gelato. Perfect for that left over (or untouched) Chandon or other domestic swill

Now that is a fabulous idea. I've done champagne strawberry jam before, but not gelato. However, if she wants to share some around, for research purposes of course, we'd all be very appreciative

Unfortunately the stuff goes faster than the good champagne! I am planning on getting her the ice cream maker attachment for the KitchenAid which ought to ensure future supply

No, I don't know it, CE - but it caught my eye, too.

Could still be worth a trial bottle, though.
