Hi everyone

I'm looking to do 3x J reward bookings from SYD or BNE to SIN for a long weekend (Thursday-Monday/Tuesday).

Can someone advise me how many velocity points I would need (would it be better to do a KF transfer or use VA) and what the go is with buying KF points?

Also any recommendations for 1 or 2 bedroom self contained apartments in a good location?

Hi everyone

I'm looking to do 3x J reward bookings from SYD or BNE to SIN for a long weekend (Thursday-Monday/Tuesday).

you can check the exact cost and availability online now via Velocity ....

Booked online Krisflyer miles per passenger is 93500 return plus ~$500 in surcharges. That equates to 126,225 velocity points each passenger.

Very easy to join KrisFlyer (just did it myself about 15 minutes ago as I am looking for similar flights).
Via Velocity redemption per person I was getting 160,000 Velocity points + $144.00. Via KrisFlyer it quoted 93,500 miles + about SGD500 (about $450) for a Business Saver fare with a 15% booking on-line discount. That equates to 126,250 Velocity points if converted to KF miles at the 1:1.35 rate.

So the difference comes down to either an additional $300ish cash, or 33,750 points. On that basis I will probably be converting to KF and spending the extra cash - keeping the points for next time.

a routing via BNE on the EY flight would be cheaper than via KF if SQ is not a must

I was looking to go after June. So the change to direct AUH-BNE comes into effect EY would have been ideal.

Upon looking at the KF (I made an account) the difference between F & J is not a great deal so I might just give it another 12 months or so and go F.

Thanks for the help guys.

Just bit the bullet for my redemption. 2 x J awards SIN-BNE via Krisflyer. Transfer of points from Velocity to KF was immediate - just logged in again to KF and they were there and the booking completed. Very smooth.

Yes. I'm aware. Thanks.
I'm not a KrisFlyer member however....

Joining KF is easy but you still need to log on to your Velocity account to link it to KF to facilitate the points transfer.

Remember that when you initially looks at the SQ points required it will show the amount prior to deducting the 15% discount for booking online so you need to click the calculate(?) button to give you the lower points cost plus taxes.

I recently did my first ever KF redemption via transferred VA points. PVG - SIN - MEL in F on SQ for 106k VA points + $350 per person. Looking forward to it!
