10800 pts, was actually already happy to get the continent right for each question :-)

Tried the link, but the funny thing is its is inaccessible from the UK!!!! And its by the BBC!!! So I'm in London.....

I thought I was going to ace this after getting within 65km for the first photo (just an educated guess). Then it was all downhill from there :) Good fun, thanks.

7,756...

I was basically taking a guess. The first one I got within 100kim of the place which really pushed my points up. The worst I picked the USA and the place was somewhere in Asia...

Fun game! 8,457 on my first go.

I found myself trying to figure out where fire trucks look like that (Copenhagen) and what variety of tree is lining that street (something Alaskan).

Here's a fun game to test the geographical detective skills of the AFFers

BBC - Travel - How well do you know the world? Play Geoguessr to find out!

run by the BBC it's based on Google street view and asks you to locate where in the world a photo is taken and gives you points for accuracy.

There is supposed to be a time limit, but ignoring that, what's your best score?

Geoguessr has been around for a year or so. It is not run by the BBC, but was set up by some people in Sweden. There are no time limits or any other rules. It just shows a Google Maps Street View and asks you to identify the location. It is very addictive and time consuming. See www.geoguessr.com

My best score is very close to 25000 (perfect score), but this requires a lot of research by opening other Internet windows.

It is really fun to search and research a location for a while. It is also fun to see a picture and instantly identify where it is. This happened to me with a photo of the Hong Kong skyline from the Star Ferry Terminal in Kowloon.

I was within 100-500km for each one and still only got 9,000 points. Correct countries and all.

Just looking at the first one, it's more like knowing your suburb! Could be any number of streets in Adelaide. I'll try on the computer later as the phone doesn't work too well.

To get full points you need to be within a few metres of the correct locations. Actual distance seems to vary between the maps. It is possible to be that close.

We need a AFF version. Perhaps random pictures of airport terminals/lounges and see who is first with correct answer?

Manas International Airport, Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

The Ambassador just up the road is quite nice though.
