Hi folks

I'm looking at a MELB-DFW flight next March, but oddly the Qantas website doesn't give me MEL-SYD-DFW as an option (although it will on the way back) but wants me to go to DFW from SYD via LA instead. Is there a reason for this?

The A380 service is only 6 days per week I think? Is that possibly why?

OK, it now seems to be working for me…sorry about that…I notice also that Qantas is allowing a one hour connection between QF 434 and QF 7. I presume that immigration and check-in will all be done in Melbourne? How does that work?

Checkin is done in MEL, immigration in SYD. QF434 is a domestic service only.

Minimum connection time in syd from dom --> Int (QF) is 60mins.

Personally i allow a 2hr+ connection, especially if you are connecting to a daily international flight (ie. if you miss it, you either get a terrible re-routing or have to wait 24hrs).

Bags are checked through in MEL, you get the bus (from ~ gate 15) and transfer ending up landslide in the international terminal (ie. you have to clear immigration and customs in SYD T1).

60mins is ok if everything goes perfectly but i'd never willingly go for it.

Hmm, thanks, I think I'd be wanting a 2 hour gap also. (Although, the last two international flights I've had with Qantas have been delayed by 19 and 2 hours respectively, but it would be my luck they'd be ontime this time around).
