My daughter and young family are travelling to Europe shortly and she has been asking me about the best credit card for their travels.
For many years my husband and I have used our 28 Degrees Cards and have been delighted with them, loading them up with cash before we leave home and using them for ATM withdrawals as well as regular credit card transactions. However, on our recent trip to Europe I have found that 28 Degrees charges 3% for all cash withdrawals (or $4 whichever is higher) so this card is not quite so appealing. Can members recommend a better card? My daughter's travels will be in Italy, Germany, Austria and Sweden. Many thanks for your assistance.

Keep 28 degrees for purchases, and get Citibank Plus for cash.

Can't beat Citibank Plus account - no FX fees and no Citi withdrawal fee for foreign ATMs (note ATM operator may charge their own fee so I always look for Citi if possible).

If it does not have to be a CC then many recommend the Citibank Plus account which is basically just a bank account that does not charge Foreign Transaction Fees. There is a thread on it here on AFF :)

Yes rules changed a while back.

I use Citibank Plus now. It works fine in Europe.

Well, no dissenting voices in this thread.

My new combo is Citi Sig with Citi Plus and a backup 28 degrees. I've decided that 4ppd on oseas transactions is probably worth the 3.4% cost.

I do the same ;)
I just wanted to make it easy for the OP.
