Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Are you booking on the QF91/92, or one of the code-shared flights? I could imagine that the cost would go up significantly if you were on one of the AirCalin codeshared flights

QF91/QF92. I don't think you can book code-shares as an mASA any more. Used to be able to in the good-old-days though.

There were some. I got a quote for BNE-SYD-AKL on the LAN codeshare from SYD, but I never went through with the booking as our plans changed.

Just off the phone to the premium desk. I was told off for ringing them on behalf of a PS
Profuse apologies by me and the agent looked up the booking and said it definitely looks like an ASA. Put me on hold and checked with her supervisor who confirmed it's apparently an ASA
I asked for notes to be put into the booking regarding the telephone advice and this has been done.

In these cases, I tend to phone conference the PS or NB member into the call... get the other member on the phone, put them on hold and call Qantas. While I'm putting in my membership number, I add the other member to the phone conference call (it's a feature on iPhone, not sure about other phones). So it tends to be an ambush: "Hi [agent name], kevrosmith here and I have [other member] on the line also. I was hoping you may be able to help out with [xyx] for [other member]." Seems to work mostly as the other person can provide any validation required and I enjoy it as I can contribute meaningfully to the conversation appropriately. If necessary, I can also go "on hold" (yer right ;)) if the agent needs to validate security information with the other member (like I don't already know the details anyway, but I'll play the along with their game). I haven't had any knock-backs or negative comments back using this method, though often those other members are family members also, so maybe that makes it a bit more "appropriate" or "easier".

Jill is on fire tonight at the call centre. What a champion. Knocked out 4 mASAs when I only wanted one initially, with speed and flair.

I feel horrible about all these great people losing their jobs in order to achieve cost cutting, and we all know it will be to the detriment of customer experience.

mASAs and QF premium staff, we salute you!

I just say "I'm having some trouble with my partner's booking" and they never bat an eyelid.

For those burning the midnight oil, if you're short on points for a JASA, why not book a YASA and do a paid upgrade to JASA... Just a thought ;)

Get in quick though, T-2:12!!!

I booked a couple of MASA's recently and the staff were not knowledgeable about them (last one was finished at 18:30 MEL time). They were friendly about everything but I had to refer both to good old ROQ7740. That cleared things up right away.

After tonight I guess I can erase ROQ7740 from my brain.

Bye, it was good knowing & referencing you :(

A specky....

Jun 15 BNE-SYD-SIN ... BNE 240,000 + $2,037.68 + $60 CC fee. Classic was 240,000 + $1,309.68 + $60 CC fee ... all for two.

Aim is to get the four of us to SIN and back with a trip to Myanmar in the middle.

Triple checked with Alex (nice bloke) and advised cancellation fee will be 5,000 QFFP pp / changes will be 3,500 QFFP pp - no cash penalty.

If only I had the time for more trips......got points to burn.

So my other 1/2 finally gave me the nod to leave the kids at home and we go away for a weekend, so have booked

Syd - Adl - Syd in Dec 2014
Syd - Mel - Syd in Feb 2015

I fit another syd-akl-syd into the mix for next year (me only)

2 x FASA SYD-LHR for my father and I to go to Ireland for a couple of weeks next June 2015..

So have spent about 650-800k points.. still had a lot more but I was/am easily WP for another year, and didnt see the need to try PG or P1 again (will likely make PG from 2 paid SYD-USA trips)

Anyone do a June 18th,2015 MASA flight?
I did a June 17th ,2015 yesterday as I think that is the 353 days limit.

I’d just like to thank serfty, JessicaTam, shintaro10x, Newk, Princess Fiona, QF WP, and other contributors.

It was a fun ride. Certainly made me open up my wallet.

And I was on hold for 1 last one, and was answered at 12:01 and Alex apologised and said he would love to do it but his system would not allow it as it had gone past 12 :(
