So I'm homeward bound to Oz at the end of August, it's been a great experience living in Asia but my career has brought me back (unsurprising given the clients are in real estate and the state of the market).

I am not fully up on the current state of the FF landscape in terms of earn and burn and status, I am looking at a lot of travel domestically in my new role so would appreciate any thoughts on my situation in terms where I should focus my attention....

Some notes on my situation:

-QF WP till 31 Dec then will likely drop to SG
-CX MPC GO till 31 Jan with 9,854 club miles remaining to renew
-Building miles towards a OW award with Asia Miles (135k of a targeted 220k)
-Have Star Gold status with Aegean
-Have an Australian Amex and quite happy to use Amex ongoing to build miles
-Will likely take regular holidays in Asia and would enjoy a points upgrade

I had VFF Silver previously but going for Gold didn't stack up versus QF.

Appreciate everyone's feedback on maximising rewards and status :)

Not sure. Oneworld is probably the only viable domestic alternative for your memberships. Meaning Qantas. Having said that Qantas earning will drop post 30 June with the changes. That probably means earning will be better on Virgin for short domestic routes and better on Qantas for long routes.

Lack of fuel surcharges for redemptions is a Pro for Virgin, as it makes burning cheaper. Lack of network is a Negative for Virgin

I'm probably going to more over to BAEC due to the soon to be implemented QF partner earn enhancements. Waiting to see the final earn calculator

AMEX (bank branded) is good however, expensive for ATO earning.....SQ looks the best for point dumping.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Besides the obvious SYD MEL and BNE - will you be flying to a lot of other places in Australia or maybe too early to say? Will it be possible to maintain a non-Aust address to keep CX MP membership alive and if so will you be able to keep enough flying in CX (presumably to HK and or China) to justify that? You will find it quicker and easier to obtain Gold or Plat in VFF than QF.

Here is a question for the experts out there - I assume it actually is possible for the OP to remain CX MPC if they have a HK address and fly CX as well as obtain membership and status in QFF with an Australian address?

Not sure as yet - think there might be quite a bit of SYD-PER in addition to the golden triangle.

I'm pretty sure I can keep my MPC with an Aussie address but I'll double check that. MPC has become a little less attractive this week as they are upgrading their systems similar to QF to assign everyone a Commercial value number that will decide who is op-uppped (in addition to the bidding for op-up roll-out)

SYD-PER is a sweet deal with BAEC as it's over the 2000mi mark
