...add in MNL, NOU and POM
OK, reality check.
QFi flies on its own metal to:
* LHR
* DXB
* LAX
* JFK
* DFW
* HNL
* SCL
* NRT
* HKG
* PVG
* BKK
* CGK
* SIN
* JNB
* MNL
* NOU
* POM
and various NZ ports.
Comparative reality check. These are the ports only in Asia (our backyard) that Finnair flies to.
* Singapore
* Bangkok
* Hanoi
* Beijing
* Chongqing
* Shanghai
* Xi’an
* Delhi
* Nagoya
* Osaka
* Tokyo
* Seoul
That's 12, just to Asia compared to the 17 that you listed for Qantas global.
True, but just for the sake of clarity, many of those services are seasonal and some are once or twice a week frequencies only.
Correct. I'm not sure about the 'seasonal' but you may well be right; certainly many routes are only on certain days of the week.
But wouldn't it be nice if QF also put on flights to, say Delhi two or three times a week, and maybe Beijing a couple of times a week and Seoul once a week? If it wasn't for the stupid, restricting, EK arrangement, QF could even market more AY code shares through to Europe! I've done QF-AY to HEL via SIN and HKG and it works well for me.
To cater for additional demand over the peak holiday season, we will operate a number of supplementary services. These services will operate as the currently published QF77/78 between 3 July - 21 July 2014 (with the same departure/arrival times and days of operation).
Let's deal with their marketing directly then

Not sure which figures they are using to justify being "Australia's airline of choice"
It's interesting that you don't seem capable of sticking to the topic. Interesting that you respond with distraction and irrelevance about VA whenever anyone says anything negative about Qantas. But ultimately it is also tedious. Why don't you go argue with a lamppost? I am not interested in tedious distraction.

You'll probably notice a significant difference in the VA marketing in not claiming to be something that doesn't seem to match the reality.
<snip>
"The spirit of Australia" would be more accurately rewritten as "The ghost of Australia" given that QFi is now an almost exclusively virtual airline.

Here are some Finnair metrics from Wikipedia:

And here's Qantas from the same source (of course there will be differences in definitions etc in the raw data (and Finnair profit is BEFORE tax etc; Qantas is after tax etc), and Qantas' domestic ops are huge compared to Finnair's strictly defined, but Europe is their 'domestic' market; but its not a bad side-by-side).

Anyway, that's a fair way off 'slogans', but it goes to show that the slogan 'For every journey' is probably better sprouted by Finnair, who go to a heck of a lot more destinations than QF, utilizing a much smaller fleet (I'm not saying its 1/4 the size, as the table suggests, just that its much smaller)! Sobering thought, isn't it? Clever people, those Finns.
Slogans? How about this one? "Fly Qantas ...it'd be Roo'd not to".
JetConnect is a 100% owned Qantas group subsidiary & always has been. Is not wetlease operation......either as QFi, or as a wetlease operation like JetConnect....
Depends if you are comparing like with like. Particularly engineering, catering and ground handling. If did the same on VA is a be less due to the large amount of off shore maintenanceComparing the number of employees to aircraft is interesting.
QF went from 150.31 employees per AC in 2008 down to 106.62 in 2013......still lagging well behind Finnair which is sitting on 83.7. The table shows Finnair in 2003 was sitting at 169.17/AC.......things certainly changed profit wise when the Finns started to axe around 35% of the employees.
