Agoda woes already

I had about 3 lots drop in within a day of each other from stays in the 2 weeks prior

I had the points for my Melbourne accommodation hit my account today. Interesting that it showed the date I made the booking rather than the first night I stayed as the activity date & today as the processed date.

I stayed at the Langham Sydney on Monday night, booked through VA site and I got told about 5 times at check in we need xyz because you booked through Agoda. Same for Park Royal Melbourne Airport last night. Off to Adelaide tonight, so lets see what they want.

and the last lot I was expecting for last stays in Jul

A pleasant surprise

Checked out of the hotel on Sunday & points credited Tuesday including SG bonus points. 2 from 2 so far!

My first lot of points from booking via Agoda came through today. As someone else mentioned, it seems to show the activity date as the date I booked, not the date I stayed. One issue I've noticed is that it has calculated the points earnt based on USD not AUD (both are listed on the booking confirmation). I paid in AUD and was charged AUD on my credit card, so not sure why the USD value was used as the calculation. I spoke with the Velocity GCC today, and they are going to look into it. What has been the experience of others?

I booked quite a number of hotel rooms through VA website yesterday and unlike last time I booked I wasn't prompted for my velocity number. After noticing that on my first booking I logged out and logged back in with my velocity number and proceeded to booked another few nights. Alas no prompting for velocity number. I sent an email to both Agoda and VA and Agoda got back to me informing me no bonus 3 for 1 as advertised on velocity site because I did not book through VA I booked through their site. I explained the process to them in another email ( couldn't ring as they only have an international number and no local charge number) and they have not returned my email as yet. I sent same email to VA and have no reply yet. Pretty poor form when the advert says 3 points for every dollar spent, but you don't even get the option to opt in! Previous experiences have been good, let's hope this is just a glitch they can fix.

Hope they sort it for you soon! A stay last Thursday posted yesterday, 1 week turn around :)

I received an email from VA within 24 hours asking for the confirmation emails from agoda and indicated they will add my velocity details to the booking an have informed IT of the glitch.

After my Pullman stay last Wednesday (booked 2 July), the Agoda points got credited today, 5 days after checkout. And the points are calculated using USD rather than AUD as mentioned above.

Had my first Agoda fail.

I stayed at the Rio in Vegas which is where my conference was. I got the standard points ok. However I was given the silver bonus points instead of the gold bonus points to match my status. I have had gold credited before domestically but I was gold when I booked those locations. I was silver when I booked the Vegas room but I was upgraded since to VFF SG status.

I thought I booked the next stop (PDX) when I was silver but I was gold when I booked that.

I hope the status goes on your status at the time of stay rather than time of booking.

I've had a good run with the Agoda partnership, 10000x better than with Hotel Club. Just be sure to book through the VA portal.

From my experience, the bonus points are based on status at time of booking.

I booked a stay at a hotel here at ATL via an internet terminal at the airport. I followed the links to Agoda via the VA website just like I have in the past. But unlike previous stays, I was unable to put my VFF number in. So while I am still here, I fired off an email to Agoda.

The first reply simply said that I needed to put my VFF number in at the time of booking or no points for you.

Second email was a little more helpful.

From my current & close to real time TR:

Agoda - not so great. Their emails have been quick which is a plus. Their second response suggested to me that I should have added the VFF number at the time of booking. Thank you, Captain Obvious! They go on to say that I could cancel the booking, make a new booking & add the number to the new booking. But as they said, the booking has commenced & I'm on a non refundable booking so that won't work.

The remaining option (as they mentioned as well as a couple of you did also) is to do a retro claim with VA/VFF. Agoda did point out that they can not add the number at their end at this point.

I asked the ATL hotel to add my VFF number. Let's see if that works. Otherwise I'll retro claim.

Hi there,
can someone clarify the following for me please?
When you book through Virgin Australia/Velocity website and add your VFF frequent flyer number during the booking process, do you only receive Velocity points and no Agoda Rewards points?
Does anyone have any experience with this?
Cheers

I had never actually set up an account at Agoda, but it appears that an Agoda Rewards account is established for you when making your first booking through the VFF portal. Agoda Rewards points are then accrued anytime you use the same email address. I've just gone to agoda.com and requested my account password, logged in and found I have 72k Agoda Rewards points despite only ever booking through the VFF portal. Would appear answer is you accrue both (unless I'm just lucky).

Hmm will have to see how many agora points I have. I use it regularly to boost my ff points.

Same here. But I didn't know this until I saw your post and found that 4,023 points from 2012 have just expired on 31 December 2013...

I have been trying to book a hotel on Agoda today. Tried this morning (and thought there might be a glitch) and tried again just now but the same thing happens. No option to select VA number when going in through both FF site or VA home site. I wanted to book a room in Vancouver for 1 night and the search said there were no Vancouver hotels available. I clicked again and all the hotels came up, then it said the hotel I selected had no availability, I clicked checked rates and all rooms came up as available, I went to select room and the site told me my session had timed out. No delays in me entering information or clicking through, so I gave up. Not sure the effort is really worth the 3 for 1 return. This is too hard to deal with VA, please fix up this up. How hard is it to give people money. I want to spend it, and may just do so with someone else!
