MH 777 missing - MH370 media statement

After my accident it was interesting reading the net and the media, as virtually 100% of what I saw was wrong...some so wrong as to be utter fabrication. I expect that most of what we are seeing here is the same.

SWMBO is also in a panic over our first MH flight in May. However, she has decided that we are meant to be on that flight and that changing flights would be asking for something to happen to the new flight. Karma stuff.

We can call wild rumour then as the same has been said if the Italian.

Still the possibility of nefarious actions with 2 stolen passports will help with SWMBOs panic vs being mechanical or human error. (As bad as that sounds)
I have to admit I am a bit fatalistic as well - if it is your time to go.....If it makes her feel better all the stats show you are safer in a plane than in a car.

What is with people and not reporting their passports being stolen? I'd have thought that was a fairly obvious thing to do these days.

he did report his passport stolen last august it states

SMH reports suggest their theory of a catastrophic explosion......

Which in part they base on the lack of a radio call...which I can guarantee for you is at the bottom of a pilot's priority list.

Im sure Air Canada , would be extremely thrilled to have their 777 aircraft being shown in this article . How bloody hard is it to get a picture of a Malaysian 777 to attach to this article , there are literally thousands of images available , especially at the moment . Absolutely poor journalism from the SMH.

SMH reports suggest their theory of a catastrophic explosion......

Kind of makes sense since it just disappeared, stolen passports....

How many 'expert' comments on the net come from genuine professionals who actually had been through harrowing emergencies ?

Most likely none !

We are privileged to have you commenting here for us.

A calm voice in a sea of emotions !

Thank you

Australian immigration have people stationed at KUL to do secondary checks of credentials prior to boarding for Australia bound flights, it seems fairly easy to get through KUL with docs that are not perfect.

Anyway, the lack of solid information from the airline itself suggests that a lot of what we're hearing on the news is mostly speculation.

A bit odd that the fuel trail does not have any debris, I would imagine things will move quickly with a P3 on station, they are great assets to have for such work if properly tasked. It looks like the area of interest is in the middle of a few boundaries with regard SAR centre responsibilities and outside land primary radar coverage, you could not pick a worse place for such an event IMHO excluding the southern ocean.

They recovered the black box on the AF disaster two years post accident.

This could well be no different.

i am not sure of the depths in these waters, but we will learn that shortly.

airline is quiet as there is nothing to add. It would be incredibly frustrating for those waiting.

Does not sound good.. flight is listed as missing at this stage

MEDIA STATEMENT released at 7.24am/8 Mar 2014 MH370 Incident

Sepang, 8 March 2014: Malaysia Airlines confirms that flight MH370 has lost contact with Subang Air Traffic Control at 2.40am, today (8 March 2014).

Its a bit concerning that the Airline has updated their statement to reflect loss of comms was an hour early than stated some 18 hours after the fact:

It has been more than 24 hours since we last heard from MH370 at 1.30 am. The search and rescue team is yet to determine the whereabouts of the Boeing 777-200 aircraft.

Forty minutes into the flight makes a lot more sense based on the ADSB data we have on hand and possible profiles of what might have happened.

On PPRuNe they say the waters are ~ 100 metres deep so should not be the same problems of the mid Atlantic. Also reasonably close to land.

reflects a lack of systemic approach to dealing with these issues. Having lived in those parts, they will get there.

China has the 3rd largest submarine force in the world.

It could become handy looking for the black box recorder (as the French did with the aid of a submarine).

Until then, it's hard to have any firm data on the 'whats' and the 'whys'.

Yes, that's what I'd expect. The first priority would be to try to regain control of the aircraft. Radio calls from a stricken aircraft are mostly for the benefit of others, not the occupants of the plane.

Do you recall the length of time from the incident on QF30 till you made your radio call?
