Hi guys,

I understand there are various ways (but not perfect) to keep points alive but just wondering if a 500 point redemption for magazines will qualify to keep points alive?

Thanks - scheps

that should be fine. Remember you can also earn miles by buying small items through their online portal, that will also be an "activity". It doesn't just have to be redemptions.

Cool thanks, because reading the rules... Wasnt quite so clear

Other possible ways
- AAdvantage Passport challenge
- e-rewards survey used to work
- Open an account with www.points.com - then register your AA account with points.com
- Small donation to an AA charity
- There was a search tool bar for explorer/firefox/etc, but unsure if that is still available
- www.opinionplace.com for the chance to do a survey and get AA miles, but unsure if that is still available.
- Buy 1000 miles at AA.com
- Fly QF (1 flight in 18 months)

Some of these may no longer work but worth a try

Is this just as simple as adding the AA no in a booking instead of the QF number?

By what period do these possible options extend the miles by? Cheers

- Fly QF (1 flight in 18 months) ...

Yes, and extends the life of your miles by 18 months from the date of that flight.

But only on eligible booking class. E class used for sales is non earning

e-rewards only applies to accounts with a US address
The AA shopping portal doesn't offer points for Yahoo searches anymore I think
opinionplace.com has now shut down, replaced by iPoll which doesn't earn AA miles.

If you don't mind answering surveys, peanutlabs (run by points.com) runs surveys and you can convert 100 points into 100 AA miles. I convert 100 about once every 2-3 weeks, which extends account activity.Peanut Labs

Any tips on peanutlabs surveys? almost impossible to qualify for the surveys, and even if you do it takes a long time to finish it. I would say takes 3 hours easily to get 100 points, if you are lucky, which is the minimum requried to transfer..

Actually i take that back.... takes more than 3 hours easily. Also there seem to be a lot of bogus surveys which lead to another survey without actually completing a survey therefore no points are awarded.

Yes, I found the peanut thingo a real waste of time. Must be an easier way.

The erewards I put into Velocity also not really worth it, but they tend to be somewhat quicker to fill in. .

Yea, actually not sure how the guy above gets 100 points every 2-3 weeks.

Did a quick search, and we are not the only ones running into scam like surveys, especially recurrent disqualification on or near final question.

I will check out e rewards. Just want a few points to keep my AA.

umm e-rewards is by invite only...

I seem to have much more luck then.

The Passport Challenge points have not come through yet one month after I played it.

So the US residency requirements seem to be enforced there, I'm afraid.

Thanks

Still hopeful then

Yeah I'm hopeful for this to keep my partner's account active. I guess I could share 1,000 points or buy some more. Enough for a first class flight to Europe in there just doesn't get used as he NEVER flies. It's in there waiting for me... :)

I did a transfer of 1 point via points.com a few weeks ago, this keeps your points alive.

Can you transfer to an account with a different name?
