From ATW Daily News:
Boeing yesterday conceded that delivery of the first 787 to launch customer ANA could slip into 2011.
In widely reported comments, 787 Program VP and GM Scott Fancher said that while the company is still planning to deliver the aircraft in the fourth quarter, the margin in the Dreamliner's flight test program schedule has been "pushed."

I saw an interview on CNN and he seemed to suggest they were trying as hard as they could to deliver before the end of 2010, but you never know. Realistically, they might make a delivery on the last day of December, that’s still late-2010![]()

ANA Plans Quick 787 Ramp-Up
Aug 19, 2010 By Jens Flottau jens@flottau.com
TOKYO
Boeing 787 launch customer All Nippon Airways plans to quickly ramp up its fleet of the type; it wants to introduce its first 787-8s before the end of March 2011, President and CEO Shinichiro Ito told AviationWeek in an interview.
The airline will take delivery of another 12 aircraft until the end of its fiscal year 2011 (March 2012). Ito says Boeing has given ANA the same information that has been made public—that margins in the flight test program have been eaten up. But ANA still expects to get its first 787 before the end of this year, around two and a half years later than planned.
cheers,
Bill.

Seems as though things have gone from 'May to delayed' to 'will be delayed'.
Boeing blames Rolls-Royce for 787 delay | The AustralianBOEING has blamed engine maker Rolls-Royce for yet another delay in delivering its first 787 Dreamliner.
There was industry speculation that Rolls-Royce’s new engine had suffered a catastrophic failure in testing.
The American aircraft manufacturer appeared to take a swipe at the British engine maker last night as it said that the first 787 would now be delivered in about February - two and a half years late.

When I was at Boeing on the factory tour a month ago, they had about a dozen 787's, mainly ANA, sitting in the yard ready to go. The tour guide pointed them out and advised that they were awaiting final certification before releasing them to their customers.
Boeing Pushes First 787 Delivery Back To 2011
Aug 27, 2010

LOS ANGELES
Boeing says first 787 deliveries to launch customer All Nippon Airways will now take place around February 2011, rather than by the end of this year as had been planned.
Confirmation of the delay, issued late in the evening (Pacific time) of Aug 26, comes in the wake of an uncontained failure of the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engine during ground runs early in August at the company’s Derby facility in the U.K.
Although Rolls acknowledged the failure concerned the intermediate pressure turbine (IPT), few other details about the incident or its knock-on effect on the program have been released. However, Boeing says, “...the delivery date revision follows an assessment of the availability of an engine needed for the final phases of flight test this fall.”
cheers,
Bill.

The second the engine failure happened, this (delay to 2011) was a sure bet.
Boeing wont be winning any friends at RR by blaming their engine for the delay as i'd hazard a guess it's not be the only reason.
