Looks all good from card feature and price perspective but unfortunately it's Citibank and they are just too hard to deal with! I had my dose of it again today ...

Looks all good from card feature and price perspective but unfortunately it's Citibank and they are just too hard to deal with!

I had my dose of it again today when I actually called to upgrade my existing Citibank Platinum Clear card to the new Citibank Rewards Signature card. Not sure what made me do that. Maybe sometimes I don't think straight.

So here is goes. First I spend about 10 minutes on the phone being connected to another department, waiting and repeating my details over and over again. Then finally I get someone who can check if I can upgrade and the answer is: "We are currently only offering the Signature card to new customers but not existing ones. Sorry sir, but you cannot upgrade your card to a Signature card.".

Then it was suggested to me I can just as a new customer for the Signature card. If it get's approved I can apply to transfer my credit limit from my Platinum Clear which might or might not be approved. And then I can close of my Platinum Clear account later. Talking about making you jump through hoops.

Anyway, that just proofs it that you can't deal with them. I am kind of happy this didn't work out because think of what happens if you have a real issue. I just keep my Platinum Clear card which I only use occasional to put a large purchase on due to the low interest rate on that card.

I did raise a complaint with them on their website about this. Let's see if they respond and I might consider.

I cannot believe it, my 80000 reward points posted together with my first transaction!

I'm used to waiting for ages for my Amex points, so this is a very pleasant surprise.
When i signed up for the Amex charge card it took me many phone calls until I finally got my points after ten months.

I'm pretty sure they're both 3 to 1. I can't quite remember what the final amount was that I transferred and what I got but I was relatively happy with it.

Have you dealt with any other finance companies?? As far as I'm concerned they're all the same, it's just a different introduction! Honestly, when I've rang them, they've been nothing but helpful. However having said that, I haven't really had a problem so far.
