Well, when I went LHR-ORD on UA I made sure to have stocked up on sandwiches from pret a manger to eat on the flight ; was not impressed with the meal offerings but the core product , the seat , laptop power and video screen were def better imo than QF.

I am sure the savings on offer with this deal would allow the odd night out at a "hatted" restaurant or two and still result in a saving that is significant!

And if you book the CO codeshare (AUD$4667 in February at least) you fly on a better airline anyway.... nice flat seat and quite good food...

Absolutely. That fare for the USA is very good and would have no qualms about taking UA to USA and would take UA new business in preference to a QF 747 service anyway even if the prices were similar. It is just a shame that UA gets let down with the meal quality becuase the main product is very good

That is what I have been reading over on FT as well. Will try out the UA J product maybe next year.

For a 13 hour flight, now that I have been spoiled by Business class, I won't go any other way If that means it takes longer for me to save to go on my trip so be it. So any companies that make a direct business class fare cheaper are alright by me

Yeah, Bucks/Stag Do and USA Rugby 7's that weekend as well. Crazy I know but yeah dont have much annual leave due to 3 weeks in the UK at Xmas.
