You have to Love Virgin Platinum (and my Virgin Visa Card)

Although I have mentioned this in a different post yesterday as a side thought http://www.australianfrequentflyer....oes-one-determine-plane-41278.html#post645252 I thought it would be good to mention it here. I think it is a great deal and all because of my Virgin Visa credit card (buy 1 flight get 1 free flight) and the complementary upgrades.

I booked 2 x return J class on VA from SYD to PER and it only cost me $628 plus 19800 FF points. All I did was book 2 for 1 flexi flights on both legs and then used my comp upgrades for one leg and the points upgrade for the other leg.

Mrs. Bolthead is happy (for once). I know this sort of thing is not new however I just had to mention it again. Thanks VA.

I just did something similar. Bought MEL-DRW and DRW-MEL in J for the cost of a flexi return then added in the 2-for-1 fares and the comp upgrades. Upshot is that myself, Mrs 777 and young .777 (in his last couple of weeks of being an infant) are all travelling in J. Perth was the other option we considered but went for the weather this time of year.

In the last week I have also used my new Virgin Visa twice and booked 2for1 flights...
MEL-OOL in J $408
SYD-PER Flexi $314 plus my 2 complimentary upgrades to J to attend Oz Fest #10 next year

I'm a very happy Virgin flyer.
Unfortunately I haven't requalified Platinum this year but I will maintain Gold for the following year thanks to these (and other) flights
