G'day all,

I'll be flying a BKK-DXB-LHR itinerary on Y (classic award) with EK377 on EK metal for BKK-DXB and QF9 on DXB-LHR.

I understand I will get priority check-in and priority boarding, and use of Emirates First Lounge in DXB and Emirates Lounge in BKK, as per published WP benefits.

Did anyone experience the other unpublished WP benefits when flying on EK metal as well; such as WP shadow, offering of J drink/amenities, priority passes for customs etc.?

They'll look after you. By the way, sir, have you heard about the Emirates Skywards programme? ;)

I wouldn't get your hopes up. I fly emirates regularly and am a platinum one, no special treatment.

Same experience with me  the SG behind me got the same treatment, was travelling in whY. No op-ups, have had 1 J & 1 F flight too, but nothing special thats for sure. My brother on the other hand is a PS with EK & gets better treatment & Op-Up's.

I notice as well that QF and EK are pretty reluctant to go beyond what is the bare minimum needed on each others' status pax. - indeed, EK lounges in BKK do not even announce the QF flights to SYD - and my op-up record even with QF is 0% so far this year.S
o I am definitely not getting any hopes up, but at least getting a fast-track pass to minimise the pain at Heathrow immigration would be very welcome :)

EK can't tell the difference between Plat and Plat1.

I've had no op-ups despite being on 3 oversold flights. One Emirates lounge lady offered me an upgrade for ~$600 (LHR-DXB), but then proceeded to tell me my chances of an op-up looked good as there were no Emirates Gold members in Y. Obviously this prompted me to ask what the op-up order is... apparently: EK IO, EK PLAT, EK GOLD, QF CL, QF PLAT.

A little shocked that EK Gold comes before Plat1... anyone else heard this?

What is EK IO ?
A CL equivalent ?

I flew HKG Bangkok in Y and got a greeting in my seat and an offer to ask if I needed anything. It was a 2.5 hour flight late at night so I didnt ask for anything special. I was able to select a seat at the bulkhead in the first row of economy. I am a platinum. Very happy with that and no pressure to join their program

G'day all. Just reporting back on the experience

On EK 377 I got an op-up to J at check-in. It was a very pleasant surprise! The aircraft is not a nice B777 like on EK 418, but an A330, with no flat-bed and a more limited AVOD, but still a decent J experience.

The problem started when I landed in DXB and noticed that they didn't print my QF # and status on the BP for the DXB-LHR QF9 leg. No mention of any lounge invitations either on the BP.
I was almost refused entry to the EK F lounge in DXB as the receptionist kept saying "but you have no invitation showing on the BP". It took a bit of convincing and showing my Plat. card several times that convinced them to let me through =)

On board QF9, there was zero special treatment, let alone even a greeting. I had to ask the FAs repeatedly about the Heathrow Fast Track invites to get one.
I suppose this is because of the BP not showing any status, though not sure.

All in all, pleasant surprise with the u/g, and a lesson learned to make sure QF stat. shows on the BP.

I recently travelled in Y on an EK flight to Istanbul from Dubai, my first experience down the back of the plane with EK. The only recognition of my status was a fastrack card, for which I was eternally grateful. The flight was pretty much hell for the attendants and looked like a bomb site, I really couldn't believe what I was seeing, the mess was disgusting, and if I had been overlooked I wouldn't have been surprised . . . so thanks EK for speeding my transition through a very hectic airport

I had missed the express cards (was asleep?) And went chasing for one onboard. The csm really didn't want to give me one despite the status. Ended up getting one but was made to feel like they were doing me a huge favor.

Ek in premium cabins is amazing. But my experience in y is dreadful. Even as p1.

So a couple of AFFers have been treated well and all of a sudden Emirates treats all Qantas Platinums well.

Hmmm. I would be happy if I was able to select bulkhead and they got me there on time. Emirates has some well timed flights BNE/SIN and vv.

Just another data point.

Travelled Dubai - Amman in whY on EK as a QF WP, a 3 hour flight dep at 2:00 pm.

Checked in in J/F area. I had already selected the seat I wanted, at least a week before (aisle, 1 row back from first bulkhead) so that was dandy. I had used my QF Ff number for the booking, but logged in under my Skywards account to choose it ( zero status there). Dunno if that affected anything.

Interestingly, it was a lunch flight, even though 2pm departure. Printed menu, 2 hot choices. The FA came to me first to take my order, then moved onto someone else 2 rows back. I was a bit puzzled, but then realised it might be the QF WP thing. I didn't have anything for lunch, having dined in the Flounge, but I did go a white wine.

Half way thru lunch service, the Purser came up and introduced herself, welcomed me, asked if I needed anything etc. unfortunately, there was nothing I needed!

Then about 10 mins later, someone else came and introduced herself, gave very nice welcome back, asked if anything to be done. Offered a champagne from Business. I declined this, as I was feeling very tired by that time and didn't want to get any worse ( yes, silly, I know ... )

I don't travel that much in international Y, but this was the most 'recognition' I think I've ever had, QF included!

So, credit to EK!

Not the same but I am QFF Silver.

Flew SYD - DUB return last month with 3 flights on EK metal and SYD - DXB on Qantas. (All deep discount Y)

Emirates are giving priority boarding to Silver Qantas members.
In Dublin it has it on the boarding signs but in Dubai they said it in their announcement. (Nice bonus)
DXB - DUB got upgraded at the gate to J. Considering it was my first ever flight on EK metal I was amazed.
