Why are VA rewards points so high to LAX?

I a looking at booking business, using points or a flexi fare upgraded using points, in January next year. Leaving around 28 January. BNE to LAX.

But the points needed are half a million and up each way, over a million for a business reward.

The last time I did this I could select an any seat or a reward seat, and it cost 94,000 each way. That option isn't there anymore that I can see.

Has something changed or am I doing something wrong? Or are they really selling out of the reward seats on the exact day the flights open up?

If the option for 'Business Reward' does not show on your date, then there is no current availability.
The cost of a Business Reward is still 94000 points when available. (Check Nov 22 for an example).
Tues-Thurs will be more likely than Fri-Sun.
Release of reward seats seems to have been a bit sporadic of late, so not necessarily on the 330 day mark

Yep it is just unfortunate the website doesn't make it that clear I don't think that the 'standard award' is not available. Seem to be getting a few of these 'high points' queries on Virgin recently because of this.

As an aside you are probably too late for January. Needed to be looking 2 months ago.

The new reward points design is a joke, awful UX design, perhaps it's to cover up for the lack of availability and show something.
The old design was much quicker to read and analyse.

Ah, thank you for that It all makes sense all of a sudden I didnt even know there was such a thing as Business Reward, but now i know what to look for. Way better then half a million points.
