Title says it all. I'll give credit where due for the fact that the interiors might all be referbed, but its coming close to 3 years since VA was introduced... Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't I read something about it all be painted by the end of 2012.
Having said that, they said something along those lines with the In-Flight WiFi all good to go by December, but its still not quite there yet either.

It isn't a pretty sight to see 3 or 4 VA Aircrafts while coming into one of the key DOM airports, only then to see a DJ or Pacfic Blue Aircraft stick out like a sore thumb :? Anyone else feel this way, or have we all gotten over the fact that some things (Like the website) take abit longer than expected/hoped.

I guess when profits are non existent painting takes a back row. But it does present poorly, I've seen red aircraft with white noses and paint peeling off others.

Even more QF aircraft still have the old font, and old kangaroo on the tail,
and that change was much earlier than VA

The difference with QF aircraft is the change is quite subtle most people don't notice it, whereas for VA their is a stark difference.

For me I couldn't care less about the exterior of the aircraft, I would much rather a consistent interior product

Easy! Because the aircraft they lease will be leaving the fleet. No point waste dollars on repainting an aircraft that singing to disappear. Still VA can win because some of those attacking them over old paint would attack them for wasting money.

If they leave it long enough, soon they'll have a trendy 'retro livery' series of jets, without the cost of having to paint them red again

I like the odd white one with the red nose. But yeah, paint costs money so why bother when it's leased.

Reminds me of an episode of Thomas The Tank Engine I found while flicking through channels. An engine wanted a repaint, another engines had mechanical issues & a girl engine wanted her buffers polished. Nothing got done because the shed staff promised the world but delivered nothing.

Sound familar to anyone?

Was that a 'G' rated episode?

As others have stated - it costs significant time (out of service) and money to repaint. So aircraft leaving the fleet will not be repainted.

I guess the next question is... when will they be leaving?

Are we talking soon, or in 5 years time :p

VA have ramped up the paint program in the last couple of months. Any aircraft that is close to end of lease (within 12 months) will stay red, the rest should be completed by the end of 2014.

Why the rush, I quite liked the old style Virgin Blue, reminds me of the good old days when they were fun, before they went all corporate.
