I have an upcoming flight from Perth to Tokyo with Malaysia Airlines and am looking to credit the points to a frequent flyer program within the OneWorld Alliance. I often fly from Perth to throughout Asia (often with Malaysia Airlines or Cathay Pacific), however do visit Europe & the US approx. once every second year.

I'd like to credit my flight points (for this flight and all future flights) to a program which would provide the best point gains and also has no membership fee (I do have a Qantas FF and had the fee waived).

Any tips/indication on which program would be best would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Airline FF points are two sided issue. Earn versus burn.
QF with status earn is good. Outside of the eastern triangle burn is horrendous. JQ to/from DPS is a nice earner.
CX earn is "awkard". Though burn within SE Asia isn't bad as stopovers are permitted.
AA earn in partner economy is nothing to write home about. Burn other than domestic Australia is limited by availability and routing.
Malaysia now has award seats at varying prices depending on cash sale prices. I don't know much else.

What is your value placed on lounge access? Do you fly single or with a companion? Silver CX status (ruby) will get single lounge access.
Put the last couple of years flights into a spread sheet and calculate the earn with the various programs using today's earn charts.

Happy wandering
Fred
