Hi Guys,

Not sure if there is a thread already for such questions, but wondering which flight I'm going to have a better chance of getting an upgrade on?

Flying to JFK at the end of the year, and have two options..

28 DEC : ADL-SYD-LAX-JFK on QF11

or

29 DEC : BNE-LAX-JFK on QF15 transfering to QF11

Hard to say of course, but which routing do you think I'd be more likely to secure a points upgrade? Does either of these routes generally have less business passengers?

Cheers,

Wooley

My guess would be the BNE route, based on less people than Sydney, can you see the listings yet on those flights

Thus far, every time I've put in for a points upgrade on a US flight, I've gotten it.

Going via BNE might be better. Then it's the same aircraft through to JFK.

We got 4 x J>F upgrades on QF11 Dec 13 ... couldn't believe it when I got the text.

I would say QF15 the 744 flight ex BNE would be a better chance because a lot of people like flying on the A380 however 28 Dec being post Xmas and school holidays your chances won't be as good on either flight as they would if you were travelling in a non-peak season.

Dec/Jan is not really are not generally busy months for business travel, however, it's no so much the business travellers you're competing with but the leisure travellers who have put in points upgrade requests for themselves and families from Y to J.

BTW Wooley what breed of dog is it in your avatar pic? It looks like a Catahoula Leopard dog or is it a Blue Heeler?

Thanks for all your comments thus far.

I'm in two minds, less business travel and I'd suggest generally there is less travel ex Brisbane than Sydney. But then who knows what is going to happen during holiday periods.

I wouldn't usually say this, but flying ex Brisbane cuts out two sectors, streamlining things a little so might go with QF15.

Ozbeachbabe, he's a Koolie... Very interesting looking dogs.
