Hi all

I recently had 3 weeks in the USA, and stayed at a number of different hotels, as I'm an SPG Plat and Hilton Dimond member. I was offered, my choice of extra amenity's like free WiFi or 250 extra points, free drinks, for my stay I also received room upgrades, so I got to thinking about what your favorite amenity and why is it so.

The Dyslexic Traveler

Staying in a club room currently in Bali and enjoying alcohol and snacks from 4.30pm until 7.30pm when a glass of wine outside those hours costs around $20 with all the ++ added in.
Plus this impressive array of bathroom amenities.

Plus free wifi all around the resort enabling my husband to keep himself occupied listening to AFL during the day and the Ashes during the night. Life is good.

And being a gold Ambassador for the princely sum of $200 enabled us a suite upgrade for 10 nights here and 2 nights in Singapore on the way home.

Free WiFi (Hilton hotels)
Executive lounge access (Hilton & Hyatt hotels)
Room upgrades (Hilton hotels)
Spa access (Mandarin Oriental hotels)

Exec lounge is the biggest benefit to me. It covers breakfast, some drinks, generally better service and can cover dinner depending on the hotel. In Asia it's like an almost all day buffet, with drinks!

Agree re the executive lounge. The Conrad BKK was excellent last week. :)

The amenities I do enjoy as an HH Diamond are the free internet, usually an upgrade (SYD excepted) and the prompt check in process.

Conrad Sanya offers (to diamond members) complementary high tea every day between 15.30-16.30 as well as evening drinks which include excellent coughtails between 17.30-18.30.

Also, free bottle of wine on arrival, fruit plate restocked daily & free mini bar (include alcohol) also restocked daily.
Wi-if and breakfast at the restaurant are both free for diamond members.

In the bathroom there was a selection of 3 different amnesties.

By far the most generous hotel I stayed at.

We've received fresh fruit baskets each day while here but haven't really got into them. Nor the afternoon teas as we are usually around the pool. And yes, Asian club hotels do mean pretty much food and drink around the clock.

A free upgrade to "business class" at the Sokos Viru in Tallinn - the room included its own full-size sauna. I was suffering a bad attack of fibromyalgia and that sauna was a life-saver.

Complimentary high-class hooke. sorry, wrong forum.

Love a good exec lounge. Conrad in SIN is my fave (though I haven't been in all that many), if you wished to, you could sit in there and drink free alcohol from 0600 till 2300, and eat quite a bit of the time as well. I would not, however, recommend trying this.
At a reunion in SIN last year a bunch of us stayed at Royal Plaza on Scott's and we got together in the EL every evening for drinks prior to going out. Great fun and plenty of SIN slings down the hatch.

I also love the executive lounges.
They can save a fortune!

Whilst an exec lounge is a boon, sometimes it is the little things. Like a proper size cake of soap in the bathroom, instead of something smaller than a 50c piece.

All the benefits that come with high(er) tier membership of loyalty program. Late checkouts are valuable for evening departures.

A wireless Karaoke Machine with at least 10,000 song choices.
I could then practice my faves with the Divas in the Royal Suite after the delightful offerings in the Skylounge on the 88th floor. :D

I tend not to be impressed by soaps and lotions. I know what I like and I use my own. Lounge access is good, likewise free wifi, bathrobes, electronic goodies.

But what I liked most of all was the Nespresso machine in the Sofitel Wentworth. The Waldorf-Astoria had no in-room coffee facilities, and every other place has offered either instant or filter coffee. I carry my own Aeropress to guard against such horrors.

Nespresso can't beat a genuine barista espresso, but it comes closer than anything else I've ever met in a hotel room.

I liked it so much I went out and bought one when I got home. Not quite a life-changing experience, but I do love my Nespresso!

You may keep your fancy soaps and moisturisers.

Skyring should we start calling you George ? The bigger question, are you a Decafeinato or a Ristratto.:)

Totally agree...usually there is no need to go to a restaurant after drinks and a couple of visits to the food on offer

Heh! I bought it before I knew about those excellent ads. Linizio Lungo is my favorite, but as the day wears on I go Decaf.

While not the most expensive, or the biggest rooms, I like the Chancellor Hotel on Union Square in San Francisco. The service is great with nothing ever being too much trouble which is my idea of 'best'.

I'm pleased to report that the Club IC Bali has the biggest cakes of soap I've ever seen. Much larger than those you buy. And a ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1375669595.292413.jpg
machine in our room that I've not yet used in 7 days. Sorry Skyring. :D
