Didn't want to start a new thread, so I may as well ask here.
I have a 6.05pm MEL-BNE J flight with QF (award booking) on Fri 17 June..
What's the earliest I will be permitted to enter the J Lounge?

The rules state that you need to have an onward flight with QF/JQ/etc that day. So I would presume that you can enter the lounge as early as 6am (or whenever it opens) if you really wanted to. :)

5am :)

There are no time restrictions on entering Qantas lounges.

Not sure there is any formal limit. Whether you are checked in (can obviously OLCI 24 hrs prior) may or may not affect this.

Thanks for the responses. Looks like I will be getting there a little bit earlier than normal:D

I wouldnt get there too early - they are nice but not a great place to be unless you have to be at the airport/connecting from another flight.

Don't get there too early as you may be denied boarding for your flight if you have been in the lounge for too long. ;)

Surley they wouldn't send you back the lounge to sober up for the next flight? :p

Haha! No, I'm getting dropped off at the terminal at 3pm and will have altready checked in and will have hand luggage, so it should be fine.

They don't check your flight status generally, just flash your card and walk straight through.

I haven't seen them check the actual boarding pass for a while now. As long as they see the BUSINESS on top of it it is all ok

Actually, it's now 'must be travelling the same day' not onward.

So long as you are or have travelled on a flight, you're good to go.

I've spent 4/5/6 hours in J lounges before in long layovers. There is no time limit (pretty much when the lounge opens around 5am).

Is that for persons gaining entry by virtue of class of travel (as appears to be the case for the OP), or just for WPs? (QF site is mildly cactus ATM, so cannot check)

Interesting point, I am flying SYD to CBR, no J class as it is a Dash and coming back on a 737 in J on the same day. Can I show my return J class boarding pass to get into the lounge for my Dash flight?
