I got a dilemma, more so a first world problem. I love flying, more so in J. I got an upcoming AAward Bkk-Hkg-Per on CX i get to try their 747 and new 333 setup...

Or I can go Bkk-Sin-Syd-Per and go for QF refurb 747.

Or Bkk-Hkg-Syd-Per and get the QF 4 class 747 non refurb bird. (unfortunately no a380 avl)...

Ive always wanted to go upper deck on 747 before they go extinct.

Ill be only SG by then so no first lounge for me.

What would you do?

My two cents:
BKK-HKG on CX is regularly subbed and may well end up Regional J ( happened to me and was downgraded from F to J). Even so I would be happier to take the first option as its an Award Flight and wouldn't see any advantage in multiple connections including a trans-con after an early morning arrival.
If your desire to be on the upper deck 747 is too great then ignore above and go option two or three. Personally I don't think UD 747 is worth it YMMV :)

Upper deck 747 is one of those things I really want to try, so is the well received Cirrus J setup for CX. :)

Cheers for your input... SWMBO prefers the most direct route... so I may get overruled to keep the most logical option.

I would definitely go for the upper deck 747 option. I have been lucky in that most of my QF op-ups to business class have been to upper deck on the 747.

Different airports. Opportunity to try different aircraft. Lounge access. Why do people fly direct again?

Why are you even asking the question? :p

I usually like the window seat but I would even prefer an aisle seat upper deck than window on main deck given the choice. It just seems like a more private area with your own dedicated F/A's.

I guess it's a bit like when you're a kid & you want the top bunk!

The QF 744s are going to be around for a while yet...

I would take the cheapest points and $ option. Especially as swmbo wants the more direct route.
