I was hoping some more knowledgeable people might be able to give me a hand.

I have to travel back to the UK for a few days next week for a family emergency (my parents livein the UK). Fortunately, flight availability at a sane cost doesn't seem to be a major issue - being cup day my travel agent is closed but the online fares and availability are showing OK.

First question - is booking through the QF website as good price as I am likely to get? (None of the search engines like Webjet, Expedia will let me book that close)

Second - I'm a Qantas platinum member who doesn't normally fly economy to the UK - are there seats that can be requested by plats that are worth having?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Yes. TA do not get much commission now days. At short notice you have not got much choice. Have you tried Emirates on line or Australian Travel Agent : Best Flights - discount travel - Travel Agent Australia - (look at Bus class specials)

You could phone the premium desk and request an exit row economy seat. The % they pre allocate would be done now and the rest will the night before, but as Plat they may allocate a exit row
