Given a continuing conversation thread on the Totally Off Topic thread, I thought I'd ask the question:

What makes you happy?

Who knows, you might find someone who has a shared interest that you didn't know.

I'll start.

What makes me happy (in no particular order):

Travel
Exploring new places
Meeting new people
Music
Good relationships
My jobs (primary & secondary)
Telling stories
Podcasting
The interweb
Driving my car
Massages
Spas

Giving.....the rest can adequately be described as pleasure seeking.

Waking up and realising that I don't have to be anywhere unless I want to.
Harvesting my own vegetables ( a rare experience)
Getting on a plane, most particularly at the start of a long trip somewhere exotic, or in a more luxurious seat than I would normally have.
Achieving or completing something I was afraid of or found difficult.
Being reminded that you have really good friends. ("A good friend will help you move- a really good friend will help you move bodies")
There's a lot of things that just sneak up on you and you suddenly realise you are really enjoying yourself - another favourite saying at these times : "I wonder what the poor people are doing?"
Reading this thread has reminded me of a few more , and made me smile, thank you Erkpod.

Sorry when I read SLR I first read it as Self Loading Rifle and thought hope I don't fly near you, then realised it was Single Lens Reflex. Lol yes watching kids grow is a real treasure.

I was extremely happy the one time I dropped cold a figure at 300m with an SLR. Steyr really didn't have the same purposeful feel.

QF will in 18 months start flts from syd to lon direct in the 777 - 8 !

nonstop and 777 series 8 . 20.5 hrs

Cannot wait for this to happen so so good.....

Heard on the grapevine from someone who knows someone i believe who is a tactical Engineer working on the project !

in qf circles they are highly excited about it ! the 380 hasnt been a runaway success due to high costs and slimer yields than expected .

Boeing also developeing a twin deck 747.

Five five six's a bit of a girly stick in the fantastic plastics (Steyr, M16) compared to the 7s IMHO.
Of course we could actually be talking about a Canon...

End-of-season sales and being able to find stuff in my size
Haute cuisine
The joy of nailing a new recipe
Mojitos
Chilled bottles of champagne
Discovering new wines
Imbibing on my favourite pinot noir
Driving my coupe
Being driven in my better half's convertible on a nice sunny day with the roof down
Checking out the best spots to party in any new city
Cute little coughtail bars
Appointments at my hair salon and looking 10 x more fabulous thereafter
A boarding pass for First Class
Going on amazing trips and embarking on new adventures with my better half

Being high maintenance is super annoying & inconvenient but I have no idea how not to be who I am.

The decision to gun for it and move interstate to start a new job has also made me extremely happy.

I'm happy that I am relatively financially secure. Although I need to watch what I spend, I don't have to hope my £30 grocery bill doesn't zero out my account (I see this happen frequently too BTW).

I'm happy when I eat fresh seafood.

I'm happy when I am seeing something new, travelling or doing something different.

I'm happy that I ditched Australia and am relatively settled in the UK.

I'm happy that I am employed.

I'm happy that I have met a bunch of great people through AFF... Some who are more helpful than people I have known for years.

Not much more to say really.
