I am wondering if Your Questions and Open Discussion forums are being used for their intended purpose?

A lot of the threads in both of these forums are related to a specific airline, which in my opinion are more appropriately located in the correct forum (QF/VA etc). This probably wasn't such an issue when the board was largely QF centric, but now that there's VA threads at a reasonable pace, perhaps it's something that could be considered?

I guess it's whether the Airline Loyalty Programs forums are for questions related _specifically_ to the loyalty programs (eg QFF and VA Velocity) or more generally about the operations of each carrier (eg QF incl JQ/VA/NZ/AA etc). In my opinion, you cannot separate the loyalty program from the actual operations of the airline group in question.

Just something that i'd like to hear others thoughts on, but as a frequent lurker and less frequent poster, it's hard to have to check the VA forum, Your Questions and Open Discussion on a daily basis and all the while ignore the QF-related posts which are not relevant to me. I think you could consider collapsing these two forums together to have Discussion and Questions, and then moderate airline specific questions over to the correct forum leaving this space for general airline questions or questions along the lines of "Virgin America or AA from LAX to JFK". Questions such as "Qantas A380 entertainment" should go into the QF forum.

If only Alan Joyce could understand this.

I'm sorry for picking that one quotation out. I don't disagree with the rest of your post, but I did smile when I read that. It is quite appropriate with QF at the moment.

There could be scope for improvement, eg move airline specific discussion forums to the top and simply call then "Qantas" or "Virgin Australia" or other airlines which members frequently fly (eg SQ \ EK \ NZ). Then have a forum for One World \ Star \ Sky Team to cover the "I'm on both BA and AA but booked through QF" type questions, and then have an airport specific questions area for the "after customs where will I find shop xyz at SYD" type questions.

The final area could be a "All other questions \ open discussion" area which covers the "what do you think of this idea" type questions \ threads.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

We dont have individual airline forums, just their Frequent flyer forums, which is why general questions and discussion threads exist, and often a discussion about one airline could involve another, especially in the case of alliances.
