My wife and I hit Gold this week together (all self funded liesure travel). In the next year i can possibly hit Plat with her credits pooled to me. She will then downgrade to Silver. We travel together. She is a big fan of the front of the plane. Are we likely to receive better treatment as both Gold or as one Plat and one Silver ? (as i am unfamiliar with how Plats and their partners are treated with non-Plat / Gold partners flying with them - the lounge access is fine of course - but it is all about getting up front as she suffers Claustrophobia and is a very nervous flyer (what can i say)).

If she always travels with you I would go for plat. Not sure what you mean by better treatment.
Most gold/plat benefits can be shared - lounge, priority, seating etc...

You'll get 4 comp upgrades to business which will surely guarantee forward seating ;)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

The hotel/car hire benefits as a plat should not be underestimated either, they can offer significant savings.

Actually I wasn't even thinking of that. I am benefiting from both the Hilton diamond match, and the Europcar elite match. I have been particularly happy with the Hilton Diamond match and will be doing my level best to retain it this year.

I would go for the Platinum simply because there are always more members of the lower tier than the higher tier. When it comes to benefits, the spoils are given to the higher tier first and then to the lower tiers.
