So, I have a Qatar flight coming back from Lebanon via Doha into Aus coming up.

Schedule as booked is BEY depart 235am, arrive DOH 530am.
Then depart DOHA for Aus at 915am. Transit time I am comfortable with.

Tonight I get an email from Qatar "Changes in Flight Schedule".

Sure I've seen a few times, usually minor changes of 10 minutes here or there.

Today though they want me to accept that I change to a flight that departs at 825pm and arrives DOH at 1120pm... Same flight to Aus, but with a TEN hour transit now...

No way in hell I would have booked such a schedule.

Thing is.... the original flight schedule can still be booked online for $10 LESS.... so I know my original flight is still going.

Their only options:
1. Accept the changes.
2. Request a refund.

oh and

3. is all the way down here in small print... don't want to change, contact us. Yeah right we all know that contacting Qatar is a huge pain.

Anyone have ideas on what my options are in reality? I neither want to accept the changes nor cancel.... I'd like to stay on my original schedule. What happens if I don't answer?

Solution
If your flight is in May and you're not bothered calling them up.. then leave it as it is for 1 or 2 days. Make sure you Do not accept the change online.
If the flight you want is still available then call them and request to be changed back or get a refund and rebook yourself.
BUT.. All i'm saying is that they could be moving existing confirmed customers with PNR's now before they update their booking system. Right now i can't even load their search flight function online.

With everything going on, i wouldn't be shocked to see them reducing flights.
When is your actual flight? If it's more than a week away i would keep an eye on it.. their booking system might not be updated yet. This could save you a call .

Qatar Airways, like many airlines, could be reducing flights especially with Qatars new restrictions.

In an attempt to prevent any more cases of coronavirus in Qatar, the government has put heavy travel restrictions in place. Travelers from Bangladesh, China, Egypt, India, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Syria, and Thailand are no longer being granted entry.

UNLESS *now this is a weird one* you are transiting through Qatar..

The (return) flight is in May.

regarding reducing flights, sure,.... except my original flight can still be booked, as I said

And no I'm not entering Qatar, only changing at the airport... which is still acceptable from Lebanon

The reason I asked the question was to understand if I could answer your question or provide and contribute based on real experience. As the booking was revenue direct with QR and as you are a silver privilege club member I would suggest that you will have better knowledge than myself. If it was a rewards booking made through QF I would have an opinion as we have been stuffed around by QR on previous bookings.

The only comment I will make is if the change is in voluntarily most airlines will accomodate a full refund but some CC agents may need more convincing than others.

thanks.... but yeah I've done this trip a few times in the last couple of years.
Always paid direct.
And buggered if I want to spend TEN hours in the airport omg haha

Still not wanting a refund though, just to stick to original plan

I would be cautious of this, there have been reports on the web of travellers being denied transit access.

reports from?

Qatar has cancelled all transit stays out the airport, has cancelled flights from some countries, but still allows travel through... according to its own website...

I must be missing something, if the original plane is not running, how can you stick to the original plan.

You are missing something:

"Thing is.... the original flight schedule can still be booked online for $10 LESS.... so I know my original flight is still going"

:)))

In regards to transit I was not specifically, nor was that my intention to make an informed opinion on the current arrangements at DOH. There are reports of closed boarders when travelling ‘from’ to ‘many’ ports and all countries are excising different rules this site may be of some Help.

If the flight is still available you have most likely answered your own question, ask for a full refund and rebook.

Sorry I cannot be of more help.

Is there a list of cancelled QR flights? Similar to SIAs

I understand you were emailed, but wondering if they've suspended flights into the future that they already know about. ?? I'd like to look up their restrictions. ?Tried to scan their website, can't find anything.
