I'm just reading the horror emirates flight thread and people keep mentioning these letters. Can someone explain what they mean?

Thanks

Hello Flying, welcome to AFF (australian frequent flyer)

F - first class
J - business class
Y+ - premium economy
Y - economy class

Hope that helps!

That is one way of looking at it. :)

Never has truer words been spoken. There is nothing worse than 5 hours of Y on a US carrier flying domestic.

So far every flight i have taken this last 10 days has been 100% full and with between 6 and 29 standby's !

All my MD80 routes have had substituted 757's and i actually dont mind the big brown leather seats in F. Even better was my JFK-DFW flight i had one of the new ETOPS capable refitted 757's, the flat beds are rather comfortable also.

Food has been good... yes they still have the famous Pizza and also Chicken and cheese hot roles ! not real healthy but good comfort food. (They seem not to have one genuine healthy choice and the other like the AA of old)

One thing that i have not noticed flying F that everybody used to complain about if others dumping there bags in F overhead... does not seem to happen anymore... but the overheads are still always full ! And the F boarding first is a bit of a pain, i would prefer to wait in the lounge but that may just spell trouble if you do that.

Flagship lounges are nice - and the staff seem to aim to please, the women in Miami this morning jumped up to proudly show me there (they called it small) small lounge (i would call it intimate) :)
Admirals Club lounges - don't come even close to the normal QP's really :(

Anyway not really the topic to post that in but you know just felt like saying it anyway :)
