Hi All

I paid for a wedding 2 years back on my Krisflyer Amex + other associated spending so i'm currently in posession of enough points to get my cough

SYD-xSIN-xICN-SFO

LAX-xNRT-xSIN-SYD

in first class.

I'm looking to fly in Sept 13 for a "trip to end all trips" - with my boys in Las Vegas

What are my chances, if i log in on the day flights get unlocked - booking 12 months out - of getting these seats? I've never actually flown with SQ before so none of my points come from flights.

Worst case, i'm happy to fly a few legs or one way in J, but no Y.

Cheers
Matt

edit: i can fly out of/into adelaide or sydney if that helps

Matt,we have been going on the A340-500 from SIN to LAX in the 100 seater all J as the flight times for connections suit us better than the A380 that stops in Narita for about 90 minutes or so. I have seen and recently booked The A340 on Saver and it is an excellent plane with wide, lay flat seats.
The 777 from SIN-LHR in First is available but that would make it a real long cut to get to Vegas. By the time the KRUG and Dom Perignon starts getting poured the pain of a long cut could be forgotten.

Bingo :)

The way i see it, they will have in flight internet by this stage, fine champagne, a place to snooze, top class food on hand. I don't care how long it takes me to get there :p

I'd like to get on as many different pieces of Singapore metal as possible though.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

There is a thread in FT saying that the A380 Suites were available this June and August so I was looking last night for a run to London but No success.
If you go A340 pick a window seat (say 14A) and if there is a light load you can use the middle seat for movies and dining and the window seat for sleeping off the Bollinger and lovely French red wine.
I think of that method as making your own First class.
I think SQ will be running down the 777 like they did with the 747 so First may only be Suites in a few years time.

I,an SQ noob, helped friends get 2 J awards BNE-SIN-NYC in December just 2 weeks ago.To get the awards they had to join Krisflyer-as it turned out just 3 days before they booked their awards. They got the 340 to EWR on the way over and coming back the 380.So yes Noobs can snag premium awards on SQ.

Yes drron is absolutely correct that no status will currently be no impediment to booking J and First on SQ points.
Getting the A380 Suites on points is harder and I have been looking after a FT post saying availability was showing.

Hi guys, another noob here with some redemption questions.

Looking to grab some flights from Melb to Ho Chi Minh around end of Christmas this year.
It seems like everything is waitlisted around that time. I'd prefer to go in J but wouldn't mind travelling in Y if that's the only thing available. Can I just waitlist both J and Y tickets at this stage? What happens if I get offered the Y ticket first and then the J at a later date, am I able to cancel the Y and get my ponits back and surcharge back to use on the J ticket?

Any insights would be appreciated.

thanks for all the help all

I guess i'll just have to be online as soon as flights are released to get what i want, but worst case i have to leave a day early or something, i'm not concerned.

just to re-iterate SQ J is pretty good. just completed J Syd-SNG-BCN all on points and only did booking in Feb 2012. food fantastic. drinks fantastic. service fantastic. did not know i was going via Milan tho. IFE movie choices wasn't so great, but i suppose that is choice, next month return looks good tho. so sitting here in apartment in BCN, thx to Cove's girlfriend really!

Last Christmas I arranged for our family to visit VN. In the booking process there was juggling of various waitlists but n the end we were on the flights we wanted. If I was doing this again, I would make the bookings and waitlist online. Give the call centre a call at different times over a two week period and talk about how you are ready to pay and the importance of getting the right flights. You will find an experienced CSO whom will arrange it for you.

FWIW I have a booking for October this year which still has a sector waitlisted. I know that it will either come through or SQ will make it happen...they are a full service airline. I'd don't have status with SQ btw.

In BCN!? You're only back from KL Grand Prix. Who's looking after Mr KLN?
Cove's GF is indeed a generous lady!!:D

SQ F Availability is pretty good right now.

FWIW I think one of the prime redemptions would be GRU-BCN-SIN-HKG/SYD. No YQ !! :p
