Sorry of this has been discussed before. I have just waitlisted a business saver from SIN-PER on SQ223. I have looked at Expertflyer and the flight looks to be a complete sellout. My question is why would SQ allow a waitlist in this circumstance and especially as a saver award, I would think at minimum they would make the saver award unavauibale and push you to the regualr points award? And is there really any real chance of this coming off in this circumstance?

I'm new to Star * and SQ so apologies if I'm overlooking something here.

There is a chance of the waitlist clearing. Of course, someone would need to release those seats (change/cancel booking) and then those with higher status will have first choice to that seat. it used to clear when I was a PPS but not anymore. Just have an alternative in case you don't get the flight you want.

How far out is the booking paul4471?

Depending on the time frame, the 30 seats in the A330 J cabin could have various levels of commitments.

% of committed and paid travelers, definitely travelling on this flight.
% of committed and paid travelers confirmed on the flight but waitlisted on another flight.
% of committed and yet unpaid travelers
% of confirmed travelers, unpaid with a waitlisted booking for another SQ flight.
% of planners (like me) whom have a confirmed seat on your flight as well as on the flights a day either side, just waiting for a customer commitment to pay.

I am sure there are other traveler profiles. J travelers are notorious for changing plans and rescheduling. Consider alternate travel days if you can, run a couple of other waitlists on alternate dates. As time approaches, do call the call centre and discuss options.

Blue Skies.

There is a chance, but from the information provided, I would say the chance is small, especially if you have no SQ status.

Is the flight showing C0 D0 I0 J0?

How far out are you looking?

Can someone tell me how wait listing actually works with SIA? I mean, what percentage of wait lists clear, and how far out from travel. Eg I can get a wait list J saver from SIN-LHR for 31 August - is this likely to clear or not? Many thanks.

Unfortunately we can only show you the process as per this thread. There are millions of variables in all of the people's lives already booked on the flight. In my personal experience I have always travelled when i wanted to travel (within a day either side.) Just maintain flexibility.

Indeed. It is a black box. We can discuss our experiences, but at the end of the day, it is up to SIA.

The good news is that SIA yield management do review their flights and loads regularly and seats often appear and wait lists clear.

My advice - check your booking regularly. Go Check NOW.
Also, as albatross710 suggests - consider going a day either side, and cross fingers and toes.
