Waiting for redemption to come up - what do you think my chances are?

I've got a redemption booking for Mr Wells J class SYD - SIN - FCO on 17 Aug ok, and then I hit my snag the return, SQ365 22 Sep FCO - SIN is waitlisted still and I made the booking late last year, i've got the SIN - SYD leg SQ211 23 Sep confirmed but so far no luck with that 3rd leg. Hubby kindly volunteered if it was possible to do the leg in Y class he'd sit up the back for the leg and meet me again in the lounge in SIN for the onwward leg in J so I rang today to enquire if it was possible but its not. What do you think my chances are of it coming up? I do have 2 J class seats reserved until July and I don't have to pay until then but i'd prefer to only have to pay for one not two if the redemption comes thru. Is there any way to see if J class is really full for that leg and there is no chance of it coming up? HG

I used their partner airline award and flew Thai FCO - BKK then SIN from BKK - SIN - SYD , wasn't too much extra in points at the time

From reading other threads it isn't whether the J cabin is full or empty. SQ appear to be allocate a number of redemption seats and that number doesn't seem to vary.SO the question could be, how many of the already committed redemptions will cancel or move to other flights for some reason.

KF status may help if you call the call centre.

Would you consider being prepared to cancel one of the paid J tix if your redemption comes through? Maybe wear a $100 of cancellation charge.

Not a great idea, but what about flights from MXP - SIN? Would that have better availability as an option?

I dont have to pay for the J sears held until Jul, would prefer to pay for only one seat and get a redemption Alby. I have a couple of months then to wait out and see if I win lotto and it comes up, or else I will have to buy the seat, would prefer to put the dollars towards the week in Rome and excursions whilst on the 22 night cruise if I can.

I was thinking even if you do buy the second seat, keep the redemption request in the system unitl the day before. I fit comes through then cancel one of the paid tix.

might be the Plan Alby, the second leg took until Mar to confirm, so maybe i'll get lucky. Wonder if the refit program will have reached this sector by then, would be nice.
