Virgin Australia and Hawaiian Airlines don’t seem to be getting along at the moment. At the beginning of each of my flights from Sydney to Honolulu the Hawaiian Airlines attendants (Qantas staff on the Sydney end) have made a point to ask me to provide feedback to VA and ask velocity to lobby for a better deal.

I understand the the codeshares are uneven bags of recognition of status. VA recognition on Hawaiian is pretty much zero. However, while this is the case, the Hawaiian Airlines side seems to like reinforcing this at every opportunity. To the point of being very rude.

It’s one things not to recognize status (I don’t really expect Hawaiian to do anything aside from what’s in the letter of the rules which is pretty much squat) but a whole other thing to actively pester VA frequent flyers.

A pretty terrible strategy on the part of Hawaiian when it comes to customer service. I wonder if anyone else has some background on the spat between the Airlines?

That’s a pretty un-professional way of airing greviances by Hawaiian if that is the case!

Though we do know that’s Air NZ frontline staff were letting things slip about VA in the weeks prior to the big divorce.... but that had followed significant and well publicised fights in the media.

Quite strange experience for you, but no haven’t heard anything about Hawaiian getting grumbly, that being said I don’t fly them anyway :)
