After hopefully getting my seat allocation issues sorted. And VA generously bumping me for the month to gold prior to flying J to the US and around on partner airlines which re qualified me as well. I thought I would reward the effort and fly them a bit more domestically.

Well yesterday trying to book a RTN to BNE the payment for $464 wouldnt go through at the end of the booking. Telling me to contact customer service. When I did she went through and re did the booking and advised me it would be $690 !!!!! After once explaining it was $200 higher she rechecked and come up with $550!! I said no my page says $464 and I have also taken a screen shot. She checked again and had no real answer and suggested that my seat(s) may have been sold whilst I was making the booking? To me it looks more like the price had changed. Anyway I asked for a manager so I can explain my frustration, to which the reply was "I will see if I can find one" in the 3-4 minutes on hold waiting for a manager I booked the same schedule with QF for $450 and hung up. I can't be bothered writing to customer service because I feel it will just be blah blah. But they need to do better than this IMO.

Whenever I have had issues, I cannot praise the Plat centre staff enough. Yes, there may be some delays sometimes, but they still score 5 stars from me as (sometimes a little bit frustratingly) we get the desired result and everything is handled to my satisfaction.

So did you check what the price was on-line at the end of the call ? The cheaper seats might very well have been booked in the time between you looking on-line and your call

As for the VA Plat call centre, they are pathetic. I had to cancel a few VA FF redemptions and half the time they charged me the cancellation fee and others they did not

They are far from consistent and will not bend the rules to look after you even as a Plat. The poor/rude/scripted customer service from 4 different reps, along with a sub-par VA flight a month or two back has not made me want to rush back to Virgin anytime this year or next.

QF has always looked after me as a Plat and I have always had the right answer/responses given after I insist they check with a supervisor

nah didn't bother. I logged on picked the flights and went through to checkout, 2 mins tops. In that time it seems the flights went up, good for them. Or in this case QF
