Virgin Australia will start operating two Fokker 100 Aircraft operated under a wet lease aggrement with Alliance. The routes these Aircraft will operate on will be BNE-CNS/PPP/ROK/NTL. The air airline will also increase flight frequencies around Australia.

The picture shows a Virgin Australia livery but will it actually be branded as Alliance on the bird?

Effective Feb 2012 QF are replacing services to ROK/MKY that were operated by the Alliance F100 with the Qantas Link 115 seat B717's operated by Cobham.

Wonder what happened there as in did DJ entice Alliance away from QF or did QF flick Alliance who in turn were picked up by DJ?

It's been posted that QF have been looking to get rid of Alliance for a while but didn't imagine it would happen so quickly.

Guess QFlink and Network have alot of a/c coming and they want the pie to themselves!

Alliance seem to be pretty fluid if I think about OLP. I'm trying to remember the exact sequence, but alliance was doing OLP first with DJ and then with QF. Given the unique facts of the route, I can't see them moving back to DJ

Alliance just charter their aircraft, they have not been aligned to anyone for the last 10 years.

I noticed an Alliance jet (F70/100?) flying into ADL earlier today. That seems a bit unusual to me as they normally operate F50s from ADL not jets.

The FK70 fleet can go anywhere in Aus in one hop, opening up new FIFO markets.

Yeah, I read about that in The Australian when they got them (2 IIRC). I just thought they'd keep for East coast to NW coast, at least that's what the newspaper suggested. I can't see them using such for OLP, Prominent Hill or Moomba (if they flew to moomba). Actually I can't think of any South Australian FIFO location that would justify the range potential of such an aircraft. Anyway, it be interesting to see if it is still there tomorrow.

Other than the knowledge that cobham fly beings and alliance fly fokkers, you'd be hard rested telling these aircraft apart - they are basically like telling the difference between a Toyota lexen and a Holden commodore!

Flew out of BNE to CNS on 26 2 Alliance F100 parked between Qantas and Jetstar, flew back in yesterday 2 Alliance F100's over near the Virgin Maintenance.

Alliance's Head office is next door to the DJ maintenance facility, at any one time you will see up to 8 fokkers around BNE.

Which one is the Lexcen, which one is the Commodore?;)

The one parked in ADL is VH-FWI

Sent from my iPhone using Aust Freq Fly app so please excuse the lack of links.

I always liked the fokker 100's, but I haven't been on one in years. Aren't they getting a little old now?

The Alliance ones are generally ok. They're old, but they seem to look after them well. I've only ever sat in row 1 on the QFLink flights and they're nice and quiet up there with heaps of room. They cut quite a bit of time off the ROK and MKY flights.

My only gripe was that they often don't run the QFLink bar service in the afternoons (and complaints to Qantas were met with a "what are you, an alcho" type response) and they never do hot drinks.

Spotted VH-XWN at gate 43 at BNE today. No idea what flight it was operating, but it would seem that a coat of paint might be a part of the wet lease arrangement..?

It's been operating the DJ flights for the last few days. They've been operating it with a Virgin callsign too, unlike the QF flights that still went by "Unity". Given the very... white look, I'd say it's a candidate for some temporary tail and body stickers.
