Virgin Australia Complimentary lounge passes

Not sure if any one else has this or if this was an enhancement from the weekend shutdown of the velocity site. I've just logged into my account and found under the 'my benefits' section a new entry of; Virgin Australia Lounge Pass, 2 in the remaining column. I am assuming that these are the new complimentary passes for each 100 SC's that were coming soon. They appear to have a 3 month shelf life before expiry.

Last week I passed 200 SC's and achieved Silver and I have 2 Lounge Guest Passes attached to my account and tagged as Silver Velocity.

Should I then be seeing another 2 Guest Passes for the 200 SC's for a total of 4? I went from 88 to 208 in one go so would have skipped the 100 SC's trigger.

Under Silver benefits it still has the one Guest Pass per 100 SC's as Coming Soon and the current passes are obviously a result of achieving Silver.

Does anyone know if lounge passes on my account can be transferred over to another member? I've got 2 on my account and being I generally fly alone and am DJ-Gold they aren't likely to get used unless I walk up to some random in an airport and offer it to guest them lol

My uneducated opinion only, as they are linked to your account electronically I believe that your membership card would need to be swiped to access the passes, so by default you can't give them to anyone unless you are present with your card. I hope I am proven wrong as I am in the same situation with generally travelling alone with work and have lounge access already. Would be nice to give to my kids for their solo travels.

I've not had any additional passess appear in my account so I assume this is still being rolled out.

From my previous conversations with a DJ rep, the guest passes are not transferable. I enquired about allocating a pass to my father so he could check out the new MEL lounge (while not travelling with me) and was told it's not possible. I suppose if you really want to use them up you can start guesting some randoms in, although I'm sure that's not without risk.

I'd really like to be able to transfer them to others as well, I almost always travel along, so as a Platinum with 3 guest spots, I would't use them much. Throwing a couple of friends and family when I hear they are travelling would be pretty sweet. (Not to mention, making me look like a super cool[SUP]*[/SUP] friend)

However, I can also see this from VA's point of view in that if I had 10-20 lounge passes to give away each year to my 10 closest non-frequent flyers. It could cause a little bit of crowding in the lounge, due to the huge amount of lounge passes circulating around.

*Okay. Maybe it's only us that think lounges are cool.

Not really a good perk for the frequent/business travelers who are the ones most likely to earn these 'passes'
Gold/Platinum have lounge and guest access and alot of Silvers take up the discounted lounge membership.
I've never traveled with more than one person with me so personally these passes would be useless.

Has anyone just thought about leaving them right where they are and keeping the integrity of the lounge.
