6 November 2010.

Do not arrive in Vietnam without a visa or pre-arranged Visa approval.

$75 AUD, (USD 76), plus postage is the cost for a 30 day single entry Visa to Vietnam from the Embassy of Vietnam in Canberra.

The alternatives are pay for a visa on arrival (about 14-20USD (Google it) and another USD25 on arrival. Vn embassy claims this is 'Risky'. Only good if you arrive by air at an airport.

Another way is to obtain a 'Visa Code' over the internet - (about 16-22USD (Google it), then take this code/paper printout with passport to the Vietnam Embassy to put the Visa Sticker in your passport with another fee.

The .Vn Canberra Embassy has provided 2 different responses to the question how must is the stamping fee for visa by code , 1 month single entry.
1) Depends on the code you receive - when pushed $50 aud was the reply.
2) At front desk - what is this code thing - we don't know about it.

Like many .vn embassies/ consulates they do not post a schedule of fees on their website - charges are variable.

Former Vietnamese can now apply for a visa exception, but that takes about a month to process at the moment - for $50 AUD - not the USD $20 Hanoi with their fee schedule.

Nice to know Russians can now visit Vietnam without a visa, yet Vietnamese born
people have to pay a lot to get back in. Maybe they are about to exempt the Chinese too :D
