Hi

I am on Qantas ticketed flight from Wellington to Heathrow in business class.

I am on a 737-800 from Wellington to Melbourne to catch a Emirates A380 onward to Heathrow.

Does anyone know what version of 737-800 flys this route.? I see on Seatguru there are two versions.

Normal fly ANZ across the Tasman with their Works Deluxe offering (empty seat between you and other person- normally my partner)

Also what is the Qantas lounge like in the international departure?

Thanks

Most of the trans tasman routes are operated by Jetconnect, which means AVOD for every seat and the awesome Kiwi crews. J is pretty much the same as domestic J + champagne.

The WLG lounge is decent for the size of the port. I wouldn't arrive early just to use it, but it's a nice place to relax.

Seatguru is now incorrect.
All 75 QF 737s are now 12/162.
All the JetConnect aircraft have Seatback IFE but some Aus based aircraft are also now used on NZ routes so SIFE isn't guaranteed

I find the Jetconnect crews to be terrific. Agree with TomV that the lounge is nice but nothing extra special. May be coincidence but the 3 times I have flown out of WLG the past 12 months (to SYD or MEL), the International part of the terminal has been closed until maybe 90 minutes before the first QF departure - so definitely no point arriving too early.

That's true, but when VH- registered aircraft are used across the Tasman they are almost always the ones fitted with AVOD.

Prepared to be shocked by the QFi MEL J lounge though.
I have been into the QF WLG J lounge twice, nice one, that one.
The QFi MEL J lounge though, if you have time for it, I think your WLG - MEL is the afternoon one, should you make it to the QFi MEL J lounge, be prepared for the difference.
Yes, they give you food, and internet, and loos, but no outside view, and not much natural view to the outside, piffle to some, but I do like being able to look outside while I am in a lounge.
Tip, the QFi MEL J lounge is in the basement!
Personally, I would go straight to the EK MEL combo J/F lounge and bypass the QFi MEL J lounge.
Edit: Kapiti Coast ice cream for breakfast, they don't have that Kapiti ice cream here in Aust, and I am not sure if they sell it in Superettes/NewWorld/Countdown - they probaby do, but they are delish. My first time was one for lunch, I got the afternoon flight WLG - MEL.

I hardly think anyone needs to be shocked by the Melbourne J Lounge. It is a perfectly serviceable International Lounge. There are better, and there are worse.
It has no windows because of location. If windows are essential go to the gate lounges, or if entitled to the EK Lounge.

It seems to get a very bad wrap around here. I don't mind it at all. Though I look forward to it being updated, too.

It would be ok if it was a budget lounge in Asia, or a lounge where you could pay to enter, I would compare it to a VAd lounge.
But for a J lounge, and I pay good money to fly QF J/QP, but to get a lounge like that, ekkk... sorry to be childish.
At the least if the QFi MEL J lounge was somewhere placed like the QFi SYD J lounge, that would be ok with me.
But to be plonked or maybe covertly placed there, in its current location long ago, when MEL int was last modernized, I think it could have been placed elsewhere.
Between $699 to $799 to fly J Au to NZ, for eg, wouldn't you expect something a bit/little bit better lounge wise.
Even the former (A)NZ lounge at AKL was good, at least not so claustrophobic!
And not that easy to find either!
Ok, I won't waffle on but just read others comments.
Anyway, have a great trip OP.
That 380 in J with the lounge on board would be a good pasttime.
