Hi AFF members,

Tonight it appears that Velocity is doing some "Scheduled System Maintenance", however I hadn't seen any information prior to this taking place informing Velocity members this "Scheduled System Maintenance" was actually taking place tonight.

This isn't the first time either, unless I'm blind????

Please be advised that between 10:30pm AEDT Sunday 1 March and 5:15am AEDT Monday 2 March 2015 we will be undertaking scheduled system maintenance.
During this time, some of our usual Velocity services will not be available to members:

  • Add Velocity Frequent Flyer number to new or existing bookings on the Virgin Australia website
  • Retrieving bookings using your Velocity Frequent Flyer number on the Virgin Australia website
  • Upgrade with Points or make use of complimentary fare upgrades
  • Redeem Velocity Points for flights with Virgin Australia and our airline partners
  • Manage flight reward bookings online
Please also note that Velocity Membership Agents will only be able to assist members who have general Velocity enquiries and will be unable to make/change/cancel redemption bookings on behalf of members.
We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience and understanding.

They often perform maintenance around the start of every month and i'm sure it is scheduled internally (change controls etc.).

They only seem to provide notification to members if maintenance is going to occur during more regular hours - i.e. when the velocity call centre is open.

For the listed times I don't think you can call and make changes/bookings anyway.

It would probably be nice if they had a simple message on the Velocity site for 2-3 days prior to the maintenance though.

What irks me is that they never notify anyone days prior to the "maintenance" actually accruing, if it's planned... then notice can be given surely?

If it's urgent maintenance, then I can understand no notice. It just happens so regularly for them to say it was planned...

Like right now, it appears they are doing some maintenance but no notice was given again?

There is a theory it is to stop the hordes of people trying to transfer their 5000 KF points to VA

And again today ! [h=2]"Booking systems are currently unavailable.[/h]
We are currently undertaking planned scheduled maintenance.

Bookings are not available online or via the guest contact center.

Services will resume at 7:00pm AEST.

We apologise for any inconvenience."

Why can't VA give notice? I have yet to see any notices about today's "planned scheduled maintenance"

Lol :/ It's a lost cause!

And now it says down until 11pm... yet it's almost midnight

Of course it only happens when I want to finalise a booking. They'd better be some damned good improvements they're making! :-|

Quoting myself, I know, but they sure did make some improvements - specifically that, right now, you can't search (let alone book) flights on most international routes that involve partner airlines (i.e. codeshares).

Tried dummy bookings for this month and mid-year, and it's the same story each time. Domestic is working, New Zealand seems to be fine, and Los Angeles is ok (and frankly who'd fly Delta anyway). But try booking somewhere really obscure like Abu Dhabi or anywhere in Asia, and the system just carks it

*sigh*

Yep just tried to book Per-Sin for next week. Get the same problem. So booked through SQ instead.

Still can't book flights PER-LAS for early May. This is starting to get ridiculous!!

The Velocity site is also having problems as of right now....

[h=1]Sorry...[/h] [h=2]We are currently experiencing a technical issue.[/h] Our team is working hard to resolve the issue as fast as possible.
Please see the information below to: manage your booking, check the status of a flight, or contact us.

:D

You cannot be serious with no point redemption / upgrades for this amount of time ?
