Hi Guys, Have just been going through my last years accrual of velocity status and have some qs in relation to accrual ....

i flew many sectors MEL - LST (vice versa) and have some status credit as little as 4 for these legs. Should this be ten as per the earning table? I have calculated that if I had earn ten as per table I would be VERY close to Silver Status and would really like to be credited for this!

Have a family member flying CNS - SYD - MEL - LST in premium economy.. will she earn sc credits on each sector or CNS - LST as one sec or CNS - MEL - LST?

I find the Velocity site to be rather confusing as to correct status earning ratio and could do with as much help as possible!

THANKS

J

That would have been prior to the change to how status credits were earnt .. in order to bring those flights in to line with how status credits are earnt now (or at least, close to it), the original status credit earn was divided by 100. Any MEL-LST flights since the change should earn 10 status credits, as you point out.

Depends on how it was booked. If it was booked as CNS-LST, then that's how it will be status credits will be calculated. If it was booked as separate flights CNS-SYD, SYD-MEL, MEL-LST then status credits will be earnt for each separate sector.

Not forgetting of course, the PE sectors earn SCs at the First/Business earn rate, or 40 SCs for CNS-LST if booked as connecting.

Hi, do Virgin Domestic flights in PE seats no longer earn points at First/Business Rate? it used to say they do on the website and only a few weeks ago however this information has changed on the website. I flew the weekend of the 9th December in PE return Sydeny to Gold Coast, and I got 40 points each way (actually got 80 each way due to a double SC promotion for everyone). I assume this may have something to do with business class being introduced however business class in not officially available on the sector I fly most, SYD to GC.

40sc one way SYD-OOL is the business/first class earn so you have received the correct amount.

I noticed that the reference to business sc had been removed too, just checked recent PE flights, which were done in PE for purely sc reasons, I usually go saver and it definitely credited as business sc

Hi Meggsy, thanks for your response, sorry I probably should have explained better and further. I understand the status credits for the flights a couple of weekends ago are correct and I have no problems with them however was looking at upgrading my flights from Sydney to Gold Coast on the 25th and returning the 2nd Jan, from Flexi to PE as Business is not officially available to later in January on this route however the website no longer says domestic PE earns at Business SC rate, I think it still should on this route until business is officially launched. has anyone got further info on this? If I can get the 40 points per person still in PE, with family pooling for me and my partner I will almost reach platinum. One of the flights was booked on 31 of October as well so that will get double SC.

Hmm seems to be some conflicting information as when I spoke to Velocity call centre a couple of weeks ago they told me that PE wouldn't earn at Business SC rate despite the fact the website hadn't been updated at that time. Now that the website has been updated I'm curious which rate the PE will credit at until mid Jan. I'm due to fly PE on Monday so will find out next week but I suppose that doesn't help you either.

DJ's whY+ fares (specifically, fare class W) has been shunted from Business class earn to Premium Economy earn sometime in the last week for all DJ-coded flights. Suspect that this is part of Business class becoming a standard offering (that, or Premium Economy will continue to be available on some routes perhaps)..

The above applies to both DJ domestic and international services.

I'm at 628 points and have four family flying MEL-OOL on Monday December 26 in PE. I booked under the double status deal so instead of 45 PE crdedits per passanger, I'm getting 90 under pooling. This will put me at 988 credits. Or...... will that PE flight be credited as business credits (double means 120 credits one-way)? That would male it a 480 credit run with double pooling and put me at 1108 for platinum. If it is credited at J rates, I'll flick off one family's pooling before flying so the credits aren't orphaned after the bump to Platinum. I can make the platinum after we return from OOL. I think.

I have no experience with the whole double status credit thing, but what fare class are you booked in to? If it's W, you'll earn at Premium Economy rates. If it's J, you'll earn at Business Class rates.

We're booked in Premium. No J on that flight at the moment.

Hi Powervideo, so I rang velocity to ask the question as SYD-OOL, my sector and looking at your sector MEL-OOL, does not officially have business class until 18th January. The lady on the phone indicated that PE seats on this route would still get the business earn rate up until business officially starts, like they have done previously. So for example we had 2 PE seats SYD-OOL return a fortnight ago and earned 80 points per person per flight, which is double the base 40 status credits earned in PE from SYD-OOL, so 320 stats credits in total. The lady said if there was any problems just to ring them and they would adjust. So looks like you will earn 120 credits per person per one way, nice little earner!

Wow, many thanks for that. That is awesome. It's like 50% of platinum credit qualification in one flight. Hope DC comes around at the end of next year. Thanks again.

Powervideo, did you get the double SC at Business rate I did, so you should have.

Does anyone know what status credit and mile rate, international long haul PE earned under the old system, was it 1.25? I want to check the SC and points i was awarded from SYD - LAX return in PE. Found a mistake in email VA sent to me about date to qualify for platinum by. They credited a Virgin America flight to me without taking into account american date format, so instead of 2/5/11 for the trip my account shows 5/2/11 so would also like to check points they credited for LAX trip.
